I received an automated call saying that the IRS was going to file a lawsuit against me. The message told me to call this number. I called back, and a man answered the phone as the IRS. When I inquired about the lawsuit, he asked for a case number or other information. Since I didn't have one, I gave him my home phone number to look it up. He then hung up on me. I called back two more times and got hung up on.

Beware off these IRS phone scam Google IRS phone scams  they will leave a voice mail saying it the final notice and say a lawsuit and call back this number. When I called back he ask what number did I get the call from it sounded like a call center loud Indian accent young person they he read me a fake compliant and case number he said i owe them since 2009 and if I do t pay the cops come to my house in 45 minutes to bring me to jail and freeze my bank accounts lose my job all this stuff to scare me I hung up on him they keep calling back using diffent phone numbers I won't answer I called the police and was told it was scam and they gave me a number to report this to 1800 366 4484 more should report them if u get a call and never call that fake IRS number back

received automated message that they had been trying to reach me for some time.  this was my final notice, the IRS was filing suit against me and to call this number back immediately.  I hung up and did a reverse look up online and found these posts.

just listened to message. Same thing. Called back, got an Indian, told him never to call again. Said he is the IRS.

My mother is 83 years old and she received a message from this number saying the IRS had a lawsuit against her. She brought the phone number to us and we called them back. The connection was horrible, it sounded like a young asian or indian girl in a call center. They said she owed thousands of dollars from 2009-2014. We told her that she didnt owe any money and asked what SSN the were referring to; We asked them why she hasnt received a certified letter in the mail regarding this matter. We asked for an address we could send the money to and where they were calling from, she couldnt answer any of our questions and transferred us over to a Senior IRS representative (haha) who wanted her banking information over the phone. We told them that we were going to hire a tax attorney and they would contact them to resolve this matter and asked him again how we could contact them, he wouldnt give us an address and proceeded to say if we didnt give the information to him for payment that the government would be at her house to arrest her in 45 minutes...wow!! Such a scam, we called our local police department and she said they have had over 50 calls today of people reporting the same thing (Circleville, Oh)

Recorded message as last notice from IRS planning to file lawsuit against me. I hung up. Did not call number left.

Automated call from someone alleging to be from IRS.  Called back and response was "Internal Revenue Serv".  That's not a typo.  Person could not even pronounce the word "Service".  Did reverse lookup with *69, which confirmed 253-292-6055 as calling number

I. got an automated call, saying the call was from Irs... the same story I just read here.

Just like everyone else. I got a recorded message that the IRS had filed suit against me and I should call back at this number. Didn't bother calling back, as it was an obvious scam. They've been busy today.

Just got a call today 10/28/15.Fake IRS .I knew better to even answer it .I got a new phone on HSN that has a call block so I just blocked them.

They're calling South Carolina, too. Left same message... IRS going to sue me.

This a big scam they told the cops are on there way to My House  and I will be in jail for 5 years if I don't pay them today.  More people should report them 1800 366 4484  the more  reports the more others will not get scammed.

I've reported on www.tigta.gov  The IRS has a fraud icon to fill out all the necessary information.
