Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - Maureen replies to CathyI got the same message.

- CWG40 replies to JoannaHindi accent is a dead giveaway. Been well-known in the anti-scammer community for some time. They are getting better and better in disguising their voices. But you can always spot it.

IRS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
DO NOT RETURN THEIR CALLS. The male Indian scammers become very abusive when they find their scams arn't working. - Yvettegot the same message from 267-417-5022 to call the IRS @253-336-5321, regarding irs filing a lawsuit against me.
- Kev420Wtf these guys need to get a real job they called me yesterday with the same message
- ACGot the same message today, with the number 265-407-5722 spoofed on caller ID. Since I know the IRS contacts taxpayers via US mail and not by telephone, I was not fooled by this. The thieves are counting on people panicking when they think they're in trouble with the IRS. The Indian/Pakistani scammers used a robotic voice in the message left on my answering machine to disguise the fact that they're overseas. Plus I don't owe any back taxes anyway, so the IRS has no reason to contact me at all.
- Charlie replies to CathyWe had a client receive a call with a similar message from IRS, with notification to call back or they would file a lawsuit. Please know that the IRS will not call you unless you have already received a certified letter in regard to a tax situation of which you are already aware. Do not call them and give them any information.
- Dannon RamptonI got this today, the message saying it was a final notice from the IRS. When I called, I was transferred back and forth to several people claiming to be IRS agents, threatening a lawsuit, saying I owed the over $4,000. Then they asked me if I would like to "resolve this out of court," and asked me if I had the money on hand to pay them. When I started asking questions, they hung up.
- ErinI just received a message from this number also stating they had been trying to get a hold of me and this is the final notice that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me so I better call back ASAP. I know that the IRS contacts people via US Mail and also would never leave an automated machine message if they were really coming after you. Thank you to the people who posted the link to the IRS website telling about this.
