Got a call around 5:30 p.m. today from 202-622-2000.  Could hardly understand the guy, sounded Indian.  Also, I heard a lot of telemarketers in the background.  He said he was from the U.S. Dept. of Treasury and that I was selected by the government to receive $7,000 and I do not have to pay it back.  The money could be deposited directly into my checking account or I could get a money gram at Walmart.  He asked my age.  I did not give out any information.  He gave me this # to call, and an ID # to give, in order for them to release the money.  I immediately looked up both #'s.  Wouldn't it be awesome if it WAS legit?!!!

Just got a call, but I got a similar call over a year ago, and when I called the call back number I was being charged a major amount by the minute and they tried to keep me on the phone as long as possible.  Fortunately I was on my son's phone plan and he claimed I didn't know what I was doing and they took most of the charge off.  So I am very leery about this whole thing.  I would love to have $7,000, but I am very tired of scams, so I haven't called back.  If anyone else has some experience and has actually gotten the money, I'd like to know, then I'd call back.

Things to believe:

• There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
• If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
• You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, a car from a caller, or a grant from a gracious government    ◄- ◄- ◄- ◄- ◄-
• The tooth fairy really does not exist
• Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
• It is illegal to ask for money for a loan or prize, before awarding the loan or prize!
• "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
• Microsoft or a different famous software company, or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
• The moon is not made of green cheese.
• The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
• Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
• If you "green dot", MoneyGram or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
• You should beware of Geeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse with termites, or a statement that your computer is infected.
• 876 is NOT your lucky number, and it will cost you money to call that area code!
• The number you see on your Caller ID may not be the number of the person who called you!

I was sleeping when I got the call from 202-622-2000 and was told to call this number (I didn't call this number) to claim $7,000 from the US Treasury. i gave then a corrected address. Stupid mistake. I immediately when I got off the phone looked up the # and was surprised it was registered to the US Treasury. I called them to report this and had to leave a message. After waking up I know that if it were true they would just send the check. They (the real treasury)have all my info from the IRS. I just don't know how a scammer can have a number show up on a caller ID as the actual number to the place they claim they are calling from. .that's Genius. I hope giving my address didn't hurt me too much. They had my correct previous address.

I received the same kind of call.  They asked me to call back to (253) 843-6560.   If you have access to free Long distance call and some free time, I suggest everyone keep calling their number and just play around  and frustrated the he hell out of them.   If they can try to scam us,  why can we call them back and play around ?

This all is rumors, I have recieved my $14000 grants from this people, They have some policies  which you have to follow, After that you will surely get your money
