I got a call from this number, giving me a case number, and so forth. When I called the number back I got a recording saying something about being served a court summons, and nothing of the sort has happened. I am not sure, but I think it's a collector and not a legal firm. If anyone has any information, please share it. Thanks!

This is a company trying to collect debt.  If you do not pay them what they demand at that time even if you have offered them something, they will put it in their system as refusal to pay.  Person who took call very rude and talks down to you. BEWARE!!!

They call minimum twice a day but the # they have is my throw away phone. I wish I could block them but I just turn the phone off.

They called me at 6.21 this morning - no message, no-one at the other end of the line. Very rude to say the least.

A debt collector according to the FDCPA can NOT call you before 8am in the time zone that your area code for your phone is from.  If they do they are in violation and can be fined.  I would report them to your Attorney General.

256-217-5592 just called my cellphone but did not leave a message. The time is 11:39am.

getting several calls a day on home and cell phones from 256-217-____.  Always no one there but search shows all coming from level 3 communications in Huntsville, AL

Multiple calls daily from this area code and prefix. I have blocked at least ten numbers with the 256-217-____ prefix but they keep coming, usually a recorded message saying it is Verizon wireless trying to locate someone with a name I don't understand.

Another call I am on the do not call list do not need attorneys or school  stop calling me I am at work get a real job..

Got a very nasty voice mail from this number and it is a collections agency called M.R.A. This number was on my call log but the number given in the voice mail was 1-877-575-9527 while the call log number was 256-217-7893. The person who left the voice mail was Roger. My x-husband and I had gotten a loan via Advance America and after our divorce while the account was current he was allowed to remove his name but mine remained on the account. So I am left holding the bag and while on disability and just coming through surviving cancer I was told I must pay. When I informed them that I could only afford $10 a month I was informed that wasn't good enough and that I needed to come up with $30 or I was going to go to jail. After talking to legal representation I was then informed to send what I could now. If they refused the payment then the debt would be forgiven but would still go through court.

They also told me that I could have up to 80% of my disability garnished until this debt was pd. I forgot to ask the legal representation if this was true. I had heard several yrs ago via an attorney that no one could touch my disability but that was prior to the current President took office.

You CAN NOT go to jail for owing a debt.  Don't answer calls whose number you don't recognize, but if you do, ALWAYS record you conversations by using the speakerphone option on your phone and record the conversation on a recording device.  It is ILLEGAL for a debt collector to threaten you with jail time.  You can sue them for damages and WIN.
