I just received a call from this number and when I answered it there was total silence.  I have relatives that have the same area code, so that's why I answered it.  Otherwise I would've let the machine pick it up.

I called the number back and they knew my name but I had no clue who they were.

this number, 262-662-6049, called my home landline in Janesville, WI, at 10:30 am 9/30/14. left a long silence on my answering machine and my caller-id says "unassigned".

I answered out of curiosity.  The person sounded like they were intoxicated, knew my name because they said it during their introduction, and began to say "We're with the (blah blah) Foundation" at which point I simply hung up.

This was an obvious "we are calling everybody" based on the obvious robocaller-style caller ID.

Called in, went to voicemail, no message. BIG BEND showed up on caller ID.  

Have received several phone calls from number, did not answer before, no message was left.  Today answered phone (said Hello) - man came on line using profanity, said something about stealing business.  Kept saying name "Frankie McKoy" or something like that.  Rather than respond to seemingly deranged person waited for person to stop talking, line went silent and then I hung up.  Definitely would suggest ignoring or hanging up on phone calls from this number.  Caller ID said "UNASSIGNED".  Like someone else, I know people in the area code - that is the only reason I answered.  Obviously I won't again.

Phone number came thru with that number and area code is close to my home so I answered. Person asked for me by name and then hung up. Sounded like a lot of people in background. Maybe a bar or other loud place.

This was the third call this week, I answered.  They asked to talk to my husband, I said he was not available and they hung up on me. I called back and a different voice answered simply "hello?" very puzzled sounding.  I confirmed phone number and requested an identity and he said " this is, um, AMVETS"  and I explained that if it was a charity, that hanging up on people does not leave a good impression. Then I requested to be removed from their list.  There are other ways to support our vets!

It's from Big Bend Wisconsin.....they are AMVETS....asking for donations.

I received this call and it was concerning the request for money for vets.

Called, sounded like the guy was drunk, asked his name again he could hardly answer me, said he was with the vets, I just hung up.

Got a call from this number today (Sunday) and heard nothing but silence.  Caller I.D. read Big Bend, WI.  Since I live in Wisconsin, I thought it might be someone or some business I was familiar with.  Thanks to this web site, I know it was a
telemarketer of some kind.  Thank goodness for this web site!

Yep, It's Sunday, March 15th & I received a call from this # @ 9:30A.  # came thru on caller ID as - UNASSIGNED.  I answered just to see who was calling.   A guy started with saying who he was & "I'm calling on behalf of the Veterans Memorial in Milwaukee."   I hung up, hid my # & dialed back.  Same guy answered & I hung up.   You can hear lots of activity in background.   Must be a "boiler room"  operation.

I, too just received a call from this same number and caller I.D. said the same..."Unassigned". I am glad I didn't pick up the phone as I was tempted because I share the same area code. I also appreciate that this website exists.

These people are calling me time after time, day after day. Now I know this is AMVETS. My husband was in the service during peace time. They didn't accept him. Why should we support them?

Crooks & Liars

Two calls today, first at 10:52 a.m., second at 2:02 p.m. Caller ID said 'unassigned.' I answered the second call. Long delay, sounded like a boiler room operation. Caller mispronounced our name. Said that his name was Chris Sandusky; name of organization wasn't clear so I interrupted his pitch to say that I hadn't heard, would he repeat it. He fumbled, and first said something like Veteran's Resource, said no, I mean Wisconsin Amvets. Stated several times that the org. was located at the veteran's memorial in Milwaukee. Told me that he had talked to a lot of crabs today. Said he would be sending an envelope for our contribution, asked what would be comfortable. I explained that we supported local vet's organizations, and were otherwise stretched to the limit. He made a few more comments about helping vets, then asked me if he should send materials for the $20 or $40 contribution. I told him neither, reminded him that we were stretched to the limit. He used a theatrical sad voice to say 'maybe next year, have a nice day,' etc.

got 2 calls from this number about an hour apart since i dont recognize the number i let the machine pickup they never leave a message they just hang up and try later.all these telemarketers calling now is getting pretty dammed annoying what happened to the supposed no call list.

Same here but there was another number over the phone number...V53108473802216....That seemed odd so that is why I did not pick up.

If I were you, I would call your local VA Rep. I'm sure they would like to investigate this one.
