Melissa - 6 Jun 2007I just remembered....I have a national city Visa account as well. however, it is current, so I'm not sure they are calling to collect a debt.

Andrea Gensel - 6 Jun 2007Caller phoned my cell phone at 9:51 am CDT while I was at work. When I called the 1-800 number that they gave me from my work phone, it turned out to be a phone relationship or sex line. I called my bank to see if they made the call, and it turns out they did not. They said someone has gone from phishing e-mail addresses to phone numbers now. Just wanted to report the scam.

PA - 20 Jul 2007I received a call from this number which is a VALID national city extension, which is why it doesn't come up under one name maybe? Mine was a call regarding fraud (debt) on my account which was verified and valid!!!!
I didnt have to give out ANY of my account information....She just advised of the situation and to make a deposit into my local branch to clear things up immediately.
BUT I can believe that this number can be anyone calling from national city. Just be aware that they may be trying to get in touch with you about important things too!

They told you to make a deposit into your account after detecting fraud on your account. That is not National City bank you are talking to genius.

Z-score - 17 Jan 2008I received a call from this number today, as well. I decided to pick up, and heard a recorded message. It was a man's voice, telling me to call National City regarding my account. He gave me a phone number to call as well, as an extension.
However, later that day, I had to call National City about a separate issue, and I asked them if they had been trying to reach me. The customer service representative said there was nothing on my account to indicate as such.

DB - 23 Jan 2008I get these calls, too, and don't answer. Interesting about National City Bank. National City, a Cleveland, OH bank, does run its buisness banking operations out of Kalamazoo, MI. Could be legitimate. I think I'll answer next time.

Doctor - 6 May 2008I think it is national city. I owed them some money and they were laying on the calls from Michigan area codes and leaving messages. I just assume it's them. Take my advice, don't answer, just give them the money.

Bill in Athens - 22 Aug 2008The number is a National City number thats running through an ancient dialer that may be cranked up to high or it does several calls to see if it gets a person or answering machine before it leaves a message. The message directs the person answering the phone to call National City about their bank account and to call a 1800 number with an extension. The number is for member card services wich is visa and mastercard accounts for those who are behind on payments or just not paying their debt's like they should wether it be to uncontrolable issues or outright laziness.
So basicly what this means is that everyone up here has an account with National City that they are behind on and need to pay on the account before it goes to a lawyer.
