This IS a national city number. Chances are they are calling in regards to some activity on your visa check card (or whatever form of card you may have with them). They are calling for your security! This is a legit call and you SHOULD follow up with your local branch!

This is a "face" number to a corporate office of National City Bank, located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Reason for calling can vary widely, but you should follow up on it and it is legitimately National City.

Received a call from this number.  They called me by name and asked me if I knew my neighbor across the street and gave me her name.  I found this very annoying and felt it was an invasion of everyone's privacy

Never leave a message, call 5 times a day.  If this is National City Bank they should identify themselves if they want me to answer.  I don't like feeling like I'm being "tricked" into taking a call.

I use to work at national city in the collections (credit card) department.  this is a legit number for national city bank.  they are probably calling because they have a credit card that has gone unpaid for almost 6 months now, and is about to charge off.  at 6 months, credit cards charge off an national city officially considers it a "loss" and they give up on it (unless it's a large enough sum of $, then they pursue legal action, and they do, often).  if they are asking for neighbors or people you are supposedly related to it is a legit inquiry, we had access to unfathomable amounts of data, it was a piece of cake to look up everyone who lives on the street of a particular account holder.  if that particular account holder has not paid their bill in 4-5-6 months and national city has no other way of getting ahold of them (can find no valid phone #s for them etc.) then they'll resort to calling neighbors or relatives to see if anyone has a phone # that national city has not been able to dig up.  it's legal but annoying.  i hated doing it when I was there but it was part of the job occasionally.  all you have to do is request that they never call you again and they are SUPPOSED to remove your # from the notes of the account, whether or not they always do is another matter.  some people will remove it and other people might call it a few more times.  it's a very thin line they're treading on because they can get in trouble if they harass you or give you any information about the account itself, so they're really just trying to get a phone # for so-and-so and you showed up on one of the many vast databases out there as someone who might live near or be a relative of so-and-so.  i'd say 75% of the people there working in collections are just college students working through college so they're usually pretty easy going - as long as you're not the actual person who hasn't paid your credit card in 5-6 months.

call centers are like this, they have one or a few main phone #s that go to the call center and show up on caller ID.  At any given time there could be between 30 and 100 people working in that collections department so they don't have individual phone #s for each person in there, just a main number and then an extension.

A man from this site called asking for a family member with a different last name. He did not want to reveal his identity. He did not say he was from National City, and he said it was urgent that he find this person. He also said he was in town from out of state. He tried to manipulate me into giving him personal information.
He knew what town I lived in, which is different from the town of the person he was seeking. He should not have had that much information about me and my family.

OK.... 4 to 8 times a day, I get calls.

412-513-5584, 269-973-4000, 269-376-1000, 888-514-9121, ....

I can't even tell you how offensive and rude the past two callers have been, especially "Tara" ext # 90390 ( I think )

Each month, I talk to someone different.  I tell them to NOTE IN MY ACCOUNT that I will pay SOMETHING each month, but I can't afford the full payment.  they tell me OK, We will note that and stop calling you.... and sure enough, we make the short payment.. and the calls begin again !  even when I tell them, If I pay you in full, I can't make my house payment, then, it goes to foreclosure, then I claim bankruptcy, then National City gets DICK !

If I have to explain how I lost my job because of the 911 attacks ( Heading a Digital Products Division ) I am gonna scream.  I have not been able to find a job that made as much money as I did then.  During that time, I bought a nice house for my wife and I, thinking I was going to keep that job.  I had no idea I'd be let go.  My mistake, I get it.

"Tara", on my voicemail, questioned my integrity and my honesty.  She treated my voicemail as if I was a scumbag. Even Criminal.  I have never been treated with such disrespect.

One particular conversation with last months future burger flipper, when I told the chick I could only make a partial payment, she responded "Are you kidding me, that's the best you can do ?"  I replied yes and she answered, "Really, Thats the BEST, you can do?"  completely and Utterly Insulting.

I'll have you know this "Tara"... you just wait till you get Corporate, ( if you ever do )....wait till you stat raking in THOUSANDS of dollars a day, then one day... it's GONE.  Everything... GONE !  Then find yourself mowing lawns and playing fix it handyman just to put bread on the table and gas in your car.  Wait till you have to do remodeling and construction next to Drug Dealers, Drunks, and Illegal Aliens, fresh out of prison ... and THEY ARE MAKING MORE THAN YOU !

I had a desk job, computers, Cars, guy toys, Vacations, bonus checks, air conditioned office, world travel..... now I can't put gas in my car....

Screw you "Tara".

Hey annoyed, I feel your pain. I too had anything I wanted and cash flow was good, then the layoff and bam reality hits. I have been trying to get back into another industry and its next to impossible unless you know someone. Internet job boards are worthless and I had to file bankruptcy. If you know of any other channels of networking you would like to share let me know. Thanks and good luck!

Best move I ever made after losing my cushy State job was to buy
"How to Make A Living Without a Job" by Barbara Winter.  Read it cover to cover three times.

Borrow the $16.95 if you have to, but buy it!  Got me off my butt and motivated.

Took a Dave Ramsey "Financial Freedom" class too.  Very helpful, but the book was the best for re-starting cash flow.
