I got this call about 3:00 P.M. Mountain time today 11/19/2013. Some male told me he was calling about my computer needing fixing and in very broken English.  I told him I had no problem and my computer man took care of my computer.  He went on talking and I told him I could not understand him and my computer was fine and never to call here again and hung up.  My gut feeling told me this was trouble.  I looked at the phone number and checked out Michigan which it said under the number on caller ID.  It said that Area Code was not in use in Michigan right now.  What can they do if anything by keeping me on the phone or me even answering it?  There was no Company name and I had a hard time understanding him.  What does this mean or could it mean.   Thanks

I got a call from this number at 2:30 MST.  I was not home to answer. No voicemail was left just dead air. Thanks for the warning.

Just received a call. Indian guy named Jackson. Spam call about computer security.

I just received a call from this number saying our computer was in trouble. He too was an Indian man. My parents fell for this scam a while ago and ruined our computer. I told the man that our computer was not in danger and said good bye. PLEASE EDUCATE OTHERS ON HOW TO HANDLE CALLS LIKE THIS!

Been calling me off the hook...Looked up the number and could not find...Then right after that got another call answered it. Low and behold it was from Harry from Microsoft Windows...That's as far as he got when I told him he was calling from a number that could not be looked up..and if he called my home again I would report to the FCC...He apologized and hung up.

I got a call from this same number saying he was from Microsoft and it was an emergency.  I don't run Windows; I think it is a scam to allow the caller to gain access to your system for illegal purposes.

Of course it is. They are looking for personal and banking data, which they gather as soon as you allow them  access to your computer.

I just got the same call.  Must have been the same guy and I told him that unless he had someone that could speak clearer english do not call me again because there is nothing wrong with my computer.  The only thing I understood was he was from something IT and there was a problem with my computer.  My guess is it was a scammer trying to hack my computer.

Got the same call on Thanksgiving day. BEWARE, IT'S A SCAM!!!

Just received this same phone call today, Thanks Giving of all days. They called three times, on the third time I waited for them to come on line to talk.   Said he was from Microsoft and my computer had virus, indicated on their server.   Same broken English, sounded like Indian descent, person.  He wanted me to log on to my PC and check out a few items.  I immediately told him never call back here again.  
It screamed scam, Microsoft wouldn't call anyone directly unless prompted by that individual.  They wouldn't use an auto dialer to make that specific individual call.  They wouldn't call from a 278 area code and they would follow a direct set of protocols to identify themselves.

They're baaack!  Received 2 calls this am.  I was going to wait until I got a third one and then have some fun with the guy.  He tells me about computer problem.  I'll ask him which one.  He'll probably say something about how many do i have.  I'll tell him 5 (maybe 6 if I'm really feeling mischevious).  I could probably drag that one out for awhile by asking him more questions pretending to try and identify the 'puter.  Makes for a good weekend beginning.

Ok, anyway.  Just went up and blocked the entire 278 area code with my home phone service.  Darn.  Stringing him along was soooooo tempting.

Woman with an Indian accent just called me.  Same thing, she is from microsoft and she detected a virus on my computer.  I looked up the number and it led me to 800notes.   Wonder if microsoft knows about this.   I'm sure it's illegal.   What can be done about it?

Got called from 278-653-4678, I didn't recognize the number so didn't answer.  Then found this site full of others getting calls from same number.  Great site, keep it up!

Recd call saying prob with hacker on aol acct, Indian accent.

I received two phone calls. No message left on the first call and I answered the second to a man rudely asking to speak to Michael regarding my computer and an IT issue. When I said I was Michael he hung up.
