Spam caller left voicemail on my cell. CallerID showed: Splendora, TX. Message was something about showing you how to put away $10,000 in the next 10 days. Right. VM deleted and number blocked.

You can block it, but they keep coming at you from all of these other phone numbers. They are relentless and impossible to stop. I have blocked this message from 6 different phone numbers and they call back from another what appears to be still another "Local Number". How this is possible I have no idea

Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to indicate to the receiver of a call that the originator of the call is a station other than the true originating station. For example, a caller ID display might display a phone number different from that of the telephone from which the call was placed. The term is commonly used to describe situations in which the motivation is considered malicious by the originator.

    No Debts-Harrassed
This outfit has already been slammed for $27,000,000 by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in 2015 (plus ordered to cease attempted collection of another $3,000,000 of phony debts). Looks like Portfolio Recovery Associates is ready for another visit by the Feds.

I have gotten so many calls from scammers, phishing, robo, telemarketers, and various other spammers and thieves that I no longer use my home phone.  Blockers do not work since they just use other numbers to invade my home.  I wanted to cancel my phone but decided to just connect it to my fax and give them an earful.  ahh the silence is wonderful!!

CallerID= PortfolioRecovery   Left no message. Did not pick up because this was third spam call within about an hour. One purporting to be from Medicare (510-214-8643), one purporting to be from Visa (510-812-4399), a third which had no message (510-537-2490). This is the only call that did not spoof my area code. Obviously related to same call center.  I also think it is significant that this string of calls followed a rather lengthy conversation with my doctor's office on the same landline. How do these scammers know when I have a had a long call unless they are monitoring AT&T somehow?

These scum-bags are relentless!  They call me at least twice a day on my land-line with a call-blocker, but I can still see them in my caller ID logs.  I've had my number for 35 years, and have never had a past-due debt that they could possibly claim.  They are criminals.  It's as simple as that.

I found out that all I needed to do was send them a cease and desist calling letter. By certified mail so that I got the green card back. They stopped calling immediately.
