Caller said he was from Global Finance and is working with Bank of America to contact winners of the Winners Circle Lottery.  He said a friend has won 2.5 million.  
Caller said he would need $1,200 to pay a Florida tax. He would needs a Western Union Check sent to Francisco Carmona, 1127 East Bay Jacksonville FL

Call from "unknown caller" arrived at 10:48am on 10/25/10.  The man identified himself as Paul McKenzie (spelling?) - and said he was calling from Winner's Circle to tell me that I had won $250,000 in a special drawing.  I asked waht drawing? and was told "for paying utility bills on time."  He gave me a "personal code number" for my records and said a cashier's check was being prepared and that I would hear back within 36 hours...although he also gave two other time frames in his long-winded conversation...6 hours - and 3 hours.  He did have my address - which I did not give that out.  I wasn't "taken in" by this to begin with, and did feed him a long line of lingo...the last comment on my part saying my husband was recording the conversation - to which he said that was fine.  He said I'd be hearing from him in 3 hours or so - I told him he would have to just leave a message because we were going out for the rest of the day.

I googled the number and found out it was from the Houston, Texas area.  I'm not about to pay out my finds to get the individual's name.

I did call the number back late at night (the next day) and got a recording to leave a message - I put the phone down and let the TV program I was watching blab on his machine.

I have called back (privacy code in case he has caller ID) during the daytime - and he did answer the phone.  I just let the TV blab until he hung up.

I'm not amused at all - and wonder how many well-meaning citizens are taken in by stuff like this.  He should be put away for awhile - or lose his plaything - nmely the phone.
