They never leave a message but keep calling. Why?  Please tell me what to do?  I am afraid for my cat.

I got a call from them just now. Gave me a diff # to call back. They refused to tell me who they were so I returned the favor and ended the call

They refuse to say who they are or where they are calling from. When I ask them what the call is in reference to, they say it's a personal business matter, so I hung up.

Caller ID says FNMA Alliance. FNMA is "Fannie Mae". I don't even have a mortgage. Scammer. No message left.

A quick search for FMA Alliance shows that it is a debt collector.  They have a web site here: http://www.fmaalliance.com/.

So maybe they are calling you because
1.  You owe money to someone.
2.  Someone thinks you them money
3.  They have to wrong number or are trying to track someone down.
4.  The number and company name has been "spoofed" on the caller ID to scam you into thinking it is a real entity.
Now the good news is that this situation is exactly why the FDCPA was enacted.  If they continue to call you, answer the phone and get their name, company name, and physical mailing address.  Now if it is one of the first two or the fourth one, they must send you a letter stating who they are, the creditor, and the amount owed as well as you legal right to dispute the debt in writing within 30 days of the letter.  Failure to do so violates Federal and sometimes State laws.
Once you send them the dispute letter they must cease all attempts to collect the debt until they have sent you validation by way of the creditor as it cannot come from their files.
In the case of number three, if they continue to call you after you have verbally told them not too because they have the wrong number or you do not know or wish to divulge knowing the individual they are looking for, then send the a cease and desist letter and they are required by law to stop bothering you.
Please remember to put everything in writing and to send it certified mail, return receipt so that you have physical evidence in case you must take them to court.
