Yes, and it's a fraudulent one too. "They" can't garnish anything. Only a judge can order that. They're using a very old intimidation tactic. Tell them that until you've received a notice of validation by mail (NOT e-mail or fax.) and have verified its contents you will pay them NOTHING.

These pep called my place of business and spoke to my payroll..Payroll advised me that if someone wanted to sue you thru courts then they usually will contact your place of business 1st to see if they are working or worth pursuing??
Human Resources/ Payroll verified that I am working and my wages, can they do this??? Citi Financial took my husband to court for a credit card debt & they won. Does anyone know if I still have the opportunity to pay outside of court once I'm served?

Yes, scumbag debt collectors will negotiate at anytime. Including after you're served. Not that you have to worry about it. It's clear that you haven't been supplied with a notice of validation. By mail. NOT e-mail or fax. As per federal regulations under the FDCPA. No notice of validation? Pay them NOTHING.
Harassment at work is a ploy that's ONLY used by bogus and/or fraudulent collectors who are attempting to collect on invalid, time-barred or purely imaginary debt. A collector is permitted to call a place of work ONCE. And then only to confirm employment. Demands to talk to HR are simply intimidation tactics used by scammers.
If you are in debt, pay it or make arrangements to do so. But ONLY after you have verified the debt and the outfit trying to collect it.

Well it sounds like you're a professional debtor..i don't get it because if you owe why won't you just pay!!! why ask for a validation when you know it's your debt??
Just like collections have tactics the consumer does too...holding off and not paying makes it worst on your end and looks bad in court!!! using, "i need a validation of debt" won't work in court, trust me!!! i've tried it!! but anyways good luck!!

You're way out of your league there fraud-boy! You're a transparent, illiterate fraud trying to pass yourself off as a human being. You've failed! You don't know a damn thing about American courts. The only court you've been in is probably one in Ahmedabad.
A Notice of Validation is REQUIRED by U.S. regulations within 5 business days of first contact by a debt collector. You can't or won't comply with that regulation? Case closed, you're a FRAUD!  But we already knew that.

    KNOW YOUR FACTS
When Do You Not Pay Your Bill?
If the collector can’t sue you for payment any longer then do you really need to pay the debt?  I would argue that you should always pay your obligations as long as you’re really the one who owes it.  And, just because they can’t sue you it doesn’t mean they can’t report it to the credit bureaus OR PLACE A LIEN OR JUDGMENT AGAINST YOUR PROPERTY OR BANK ACCOUNTS... Having a paid-off debt is better than having an unpaid debt. In fact, some creditors will require that you pay off collections before they’ll do business with you, regardless of your credit scores or the age of the debt.

Will Creditors Really Sue Me for Non-Payment?
The short answer is “yes.”  The better answer is “If you owe a creditor more than $1,000 in defaulted debt and you’re ignoring them, then you stand the risk of being sued.”
***ANY COLLECTION AGENCY CAN SUE IF YOU RIGHTFULLY OWE THE DEBT!!!!1

EX:: IF I LOANED YOU $500.00 AND YOU NEVER PAID ME BACK I CAN ((BY LAW)) GO TO THE COUNTY & TAKE YOU TO COURT FOR A CIVIL COMPLAINT OR CRIMINAL ((IF I BELIEVED YOU  MAY HAVE HAD THE INTENTION TO DEFRAUD ME))...

The higher the dollar amount, the better (or worse) your odds of getting sued.  A fantastic proxy for “collection aggression” is the number of FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) lawsuits filed against collectors and creditors for illegally attempting to collect debts and reporting of those debts to consumer credit reports.  According to Jack Gordon, President of Michigan based WebRecon, a company that tracks FDCPA and FCRA lawsuits, “there were 12,213 FDCPA and FCRA lawsuits filed in 2010.  That’s a record number.”

I received a call at work from someone saying they are not sure if they are on a recorded line and asked if I had a pen and paper handy. She had me copy down this number and an extension and for me to ask to speak to Mr. Allen reference a wage garnishment about a process pending against me. I tried to call the number and it said it is not set up to receive calls. What can I do? The woman didn't identify what company she was calling from.

this  number left a message from a Ms. Pohl. I have recieved other calls from this same at other various numbers and asks for a Jeffrey...no such person here or ever had been. It states charges and complaints entered against him and to call them back, they give a referance number. I called them back (its probably the 3rd call I made to tell them no such person is here and not to call my number again. Does not do any good...she keeps calling back. I believe it to be a scam as one of the return calls I made was in response to a message about being arrested, the message this time says STP processing. My credit is good and have no monies owed to anyone.
