- MONITRONICS & MAXIMUM SECURITY replies to dt| 1 replyI played along until I identified reps for Monitronics & Maximum Security, The call started with a robotic message to pitch an alarm system by saying the FBI reported a lot of break ins. I pushed one and was connected to a rep for "security services" who then transferred me to "Monitronics Scheduling". The Monitronics rep told me a technician from Maximum Security would come to install the system.
This call came to my wireless # that has been on the National Do Not Call Registry for years.
Maximum has called this same wireless number repeatedly despite the fact that I have told them to stop calling me.
The Caller ID suggested a number out of Texas. Maximum Security is out of California and the toll free # the rep gave me was 888-564-5621 extension 7.
FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FCC IF YOU GET THIS CALL. - dhThis call came to my wireless # that has been on the National Do Not Call Registry for years
- LRThis number called my cell (which is on the do not call list) and asked for my husband by name, he owns the account but this is not his #. When I said he is unavailable and who is calling, he said "That's ok, I'll call back later" and hung up. Foreign guy.
- JKDBRSCalled 10:15 am. Rejected call from unknown number and followed up to find this. They called my land line. Has been on national do-not-call list for years. That seems to be completely ineffective now.
- Investigator K's hubbyWhen a person from either Pakistan or India calls and asks for munition and I ask who, to which they repeat the same name. They realized they were wrong and quickly hung up. At least get the person's name right!
- Caller: None shown
- PinkiuAsked for a Harold Robbins. That's not me. I heard other people taking in the background. I figured it must be a telemarketer.
- Investigator K's hubbyOkay annoying. Called again and this time asked for Aron "garbled", Who? Aron"garbled" again. When I said they had the wrong number he hung up.

- PhDB replies to frustratedCall and call again. Let it roll. This came to my cell phone which has been on the Do Not Call List for YEARS. Reporting now.
- Investigator K's hubby| 1 replyThey just won't give up calling my cell which has been registered with the Do Not Call Registry for some time. I've reported these calls, but I guess they don't care.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Slim replies to Investigator K's hubbyThe DNC list does not automatically block calls. Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities and companies with preexisting business relationships, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.
Here is your reading assignment:

Remember, the Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers. The DNC list does not cover calls from criminal scammers & spammers. To report those, visit https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense. Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.
