After calling me 2-3 times a day I finally answered. It was the toronto star trying to sell me a subscription to their paper.

I get 2-3 calls a day from this # as well, I have call display and I just don't answer the phone, if I don't recognise the # then I don't answer it.  Too bad for the dumb telemarketers!!!

You have to be careful what document you sign, The fine print states the company has the right to sell your name and phone number to these telemarketing companies. When you sign the contract for what ever it is you are purchasing you are indirectly giving them permission to give your information away.
PLEEEASE!!!!!!!!! take the time to read all the fine print and ask the question, what do they do with your information.

  I find that Call Valet blocks up to 200 numbers, including all numbers from
a given area code - like all 800's.  A bit pricey, but well worth it for me.

National Do Not Call List Exemptions

Telemarketers should understand that there are certain kinds of telemarketing calls that are exempt from the National DNCL Rules.

The exemptions include telemarketing calls made by, or on behalf of:
•Canadian registered charities;
•Political parties, riding associations and candidates; and
•Newspapers of general circulation for the purpose of soliciting subscriptions.

Telemarketing calls that are made to persons with whom there is an existing business relationship are also exempt. Telemarketers are free to call a consumer who:
•Has purchased, leased, or rented a product or service from the telemarketer in the last 18 months;
•Is in possession of a written contract with a telemarketer for a service that is still in effect or expired within the last 18 months; and/or
•Has made an inquiry or has submitted an application to a telemarketer about a product or service within the last 6 months.

Looks like a shill for the fraud posting lies and garbage here.  Block the number and report to CRTC.
