Similar to 289-789-1107 and 289-789-1108. It is calling for somebody whom I don't know. It seems like they have been calling me from different numbers for different people (one was asking for a guy and this time this person was asking for Jessica something). What the heck is going on?

It is ARO Collections - very rude, kind of threatening when I called them back (*67 first of course). The person who answered insisted that I give them my number before telling me who they were, but after I asked several times - she gave me their name. Not so bright I guess. I've blocked the number.

You calling my number several times, do not talk or leave a message. the calls are done sometime early in the morning or late at night. Please stop harassing us.

Been getting calls from this number.  The people just don't say anything.  Very Annoying!!!!!!!!

Got a call from this number on a brand new work phone i just received - they call repeatedly.

2897891109 this number called my home few times and ask personal information. It calls in the early morning. It keeps bothering us all the time. Hopefully someone can resolve this issue. By the way the woman in the phone said they work for the government.

I got a call saying I have 4 unpaid parking tickets. However, I have never had a drivers license in my life. I told him this. He then said i needed to contact the City of Toronto, then hung up.

Not only rude, but ignorant, and criminal. It is the commercial racketeering arm of the Crown. They never have a valid contract that authorized there 3rd party interloping. There excuse is statutory Law, however section 32 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms makes everything they do criminal. We should burn that place to the ground and the corrupt court house on eagle street along with it.

There asking for someone who I don't even know

Got a call from ARO yesterday, they said I owed York Region for a speeding ticket. I haven't had a license in almost a decade (no point, given where I now live) so I asked where and when I got this speeding ticket...January 31st 2000.  What a blast from the past! That was my first speeding ticket, I know for a fact that I paid it in full and on time.  The agent on the phone (who was quite rude, even before he finally revealed why he was calling) told me I had to send them a receipt with proof of payment.
It was over 14 years ago!
I was in university, I have moved about 1/2 dozen times since then, so good luck finding the receipt for a ticket I paid and was NEVER contacted about regarding insufficient payment (my parents lived at the address on my license for another 4 years, so I would have received any letters they sent out) I don't have the same bank account now, so I cant even get a copy of the cheque they cashed!
The rep said if I didn't pay the debt it would affect my credit rating.  In the amount of time that has passed, it would have cleared from my credit rating twice! He then threatened legal action, I threatened the same right back by quoting the current statute of limitations and rules regarding conduct of debt collection agencies, and told him to not contact me again.

So I called the york region court house:
No, I do not know what my driver's license # is, I haven't had one for a decade
No, I do not have a receipt, it was 14 years ago, and this is your first attempt to contact me claiming I didn't pay you
No, my bank can't go back 14 years and find the cheque you cashed, I changed banks when I moved away 10 years ago
Question: I renewed my license a year after I paid the ticket, I thought I couldn't do that unless all my tickets were paid.
Answer: Yes, that is true, obviously there's been some sort of filing mistake...if you can provide us with the proof of payment, then the matter can be easily resolved.
She was very polite, and was trying to help as much as a receptionist is allowed, so I managed to keep a modicum of restraint, and did not tell her to bite me!
I did tell her that the collection agency they use managed to break several laws in only a few minutes, and seeing as the call center they contacted my from was overseas (the company is from Montreal, but the rep could barely speak English, and didn't know any French when I tested) York region is responsible for any collection laws they violate.

Credit rating effect: wiped away 7 years ago (If it ever existed, I had a full credit check ten years ago, and the ticket did not show up)
ARO called again this morning, I didn't answer.

ARO just called again (the rep pronounces it Aero, I thought it was A-R-O)
He wanted to "verify" my birthday and a bunch of other info again, but I cut him off and told him that I had already given that to him yesterday when he called. I reminded him that, during said call, I had also informed him that I had paid the ticket on time, and had asked him to not phone me again.  He said that he was "required to continue calling me until the matter is resolved". I told him that actually, it was illegal for him to contact me by phone without first sending a letter that stated his company was handling the collection on behalf of york region. He replied that he had sent a letter. I said I had not received any correspondence from his company yet, and, as it should have been sent at least five business days prior to his first attempt to phone me, it would have been in my mailbox by the end of last week, if that were indeed true!

So these people call my fone every morning at 7am, 11am and another time throughout the day. So I called them back this morning and she is asking me to verify my birthday and mailing address. Why would you call me and ask me to verify information? Anyways, when I refused, she told me to call the city of Toronto but didn't give me a department to call. They are full of it.

Funny how I just got a new cell number and it is only shared with a few select people.  Yet no sooner do I get it and calls from this number repeatedly call.  I simply hang up.  Wonder who had the number before.  But I never answer any call from a number I don't know and especially if there is no name associated with it.  And I never answer 800 numbers.

London Ont Got a call 6:59 am, from 289-789-1109 dead silence see this before the quiet is most likely cause by being in cue for a call rep and auto dialer having lag time, just added it to the reject list.
Do not give any information to any company over the phone unless you contacted them and you know without a doubt who the person/company is.

In 2004 I sold a farm co-signed for a mortgage with a person. My income paid for 100% of the mortgage plus I paid for all daily household expenses. He worked but just couldn't seem to make ends meet!  And he never told me what was going on, except that he wanted me to co-sign  a total of 3 credit cards. I never use credit cards! (It's too scary....my parents taught me about that...) Then he got laid off so no 2nd income for the farm expenses ie heat, hydro. Then he got sick and went on ODSP-- We went our separate ways.

I bought a cellphone from Bell about 1-2 years  later - no problem with my credit rating. In 2012 I decided to go with another cellphone Co. that offered more for less. They checked my credit rating and all of a sudden I couldn't get a simple cellphone with my credit rating! I had to get someone to show their credit card on my behalf so I could pay $28.25 a month! which I have of course, like all my present bills, done ever since. I have received at least 3 credit card applications - accepted 2  - limit $500.- each in case of an emergency and pay them every month on time.
So what happened in 10 years? I pay all my bills!
I'm not sure how to go about this but maybe I should call Equifax or whoever to straighten this mess out.
Why do they keep trying to call when I NEVER ever answer? and of course it's always an unlisted # with outgoing calls only!  

I have been receiving many calls from this number and I try to ask why they are calling my phone and they ask for the number I give them the number and they say they are looking for my boyfriend in regards to provincial offenses......not once have we given this number out for anything but my friends to contact me as the number is a free calling/texting app so I'd like to know how they got my number....also I told them I googled their number and a lot of other people are complaining about them and she hung up on me.....

It's same as 289 789 1107. the same trouble
