Received a call from 301.246.0919. MD number. Voicemail left, but dead air. Received a spam call three hours ealiers from 844-402-3779 saying to call 844-402-3779 in regards to a return item from my financial institiution. I check my bank accounts everyday. I don't have any returned items from my bank.  I wonder if these two calls are related?

Just got a call from them.  No message left.

Received two calls from this number 12 minutes apart this morning.  Caller ID showed "MD, USA".  Did not answer call & caller left no messages.

Got 2 calls from this number but left no message.   Who are they?

This number has been calling me for weeks about some selling crap, I want it to stop!

Been getting many telemarketer calls of this type - left no message. Called back a couple hours later left message about energy audits. Area code is from Maryland. I don't know anyone in Maryland.

Received a call from 301-246-0919 this morning. Caller ID said LOCAL UTILITY. Since I'm on the opposite side of the country I seriously doubt that the call is from any local utility and I doubt that any legitimate utility company would have "LOCAL UTILITY" as their Caller ID. I let the answering machine get the call and as with other posts here, the call hung up when the answering machine picked up so no message left. Another number to add to the blocked number list!!

Just got a call from this number! I picked up and hung up on them. THESE TYPES OF CALLS ARE GETTING OLD! Our number is supposed to be on the National Do Not Call List! I'm now wondering if it actually got overturned by the courts.

This post has two parts.  The =second= is for people who are interested in the realities of the Do Not Call list.  The =first= is for people who have difficulty understanding long explanations, but think the DNC list does not work.

1)
The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls.

The DNC list is intended to help stop calls originating from legitimate telemarketers.
* Your calls were not from legitimate telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.

2)
The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.  Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and scam telemarketing callers!

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

Same here.  Caller ID said LOCAL UTILITY, and I am on the West Coast.  Turned off my answering machine and just let it ring and ring and ring.  I heard the telemarketers get paid if anyone picks up (even a machine), so I try to discourage them from calling.  Seems to work...I've been getting fewer and fewer calls.

While this # is new to my PEST list, it has rung here five times already just today.
We still find the best thing is to NOT PICK UP when you get a # you don't recognize, and that includes most of the scam calls, they come up 99% "Unknown Name", and the rest - well, if you don't recognize the CID, DO NOT PICK UP!!
So far these methods work for us - why should people (especially older folks who really can't afford it) be forced to to spend their retirement income (what little they may have - I KNOW - I'm one) on extra expense to keep these creepy-crawlies out of our hair??
"Slim" is absolutely on the money - let's hope everyone out there who thinks the DNC is there to save them from scammers reads and understands what he's saying.  Amen, brother!

got an unknown call. BLOCKED!

I called this number back after not answering and it went straight to a voice automated message saying i could be removed from the list if I pressed any button. Maybe it will work.

I received an irate caller last night demanding I take his # off of my call list.  I assured him that he had called a work issued cell phone (Verizon) and that I hadn't make any outgoing calls to him or any others.
The number that was listed on his caller ID, and the number he called back and received me answering on, was 301-246-0919.
While this isn't even close to my cell phone #, as I am not in MD but across the continent, there is a sequence of #'s that does match my #.
What I want to know is how is this # getting mixed up with mine and how do I get it fixed????
