The gentleman I talked to said that I didn't file from 2008-2013. That I would be getting my paperwork served to me by the sheriff's office. I told him to do what he had to do and we hung up. Had me worried, I keep hearing about these scams so I Googled the #.

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

USA tax payers should read this:
    http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/Phone-Scams-C ... 5-Filing-Season

Canadian tax payers should read this:

    Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

This scam is also described as scam #11, here:

I just received a call from a group claiming to be from the IRS agency just this morning on my landline phone. They left a voice message on my phone, the message says 301-358-0339 the issue is very time sensitive so before I RSK any legal action against your name call ARS as soon as possible. First things first this is a complete phone scam from this company that left this message to me. The reason why say it is a complete scam is because it is tax season right now number one to begin with. Number two I am a disable person so I have not worked for most of my life and the government would know that from my records that they have on their computers right now. Number three in the message they do not leave any names like my name on the message, if it was supposed to be very important they would have said my name on the voice message but they did not. Number four this scam company claims to be from the IRS why is it when I looked on my caller ID box on my phone hand set it does not say IRS on it, it says UPR MARLBOROMD not IRS. Number five if this call was from the IRS why are they not using a toll free 1-800 number to contact them, instead they are using a regular phone account number. Number six in the voice message they make a complete mistake when they say that they are from the ARS not the IRS. This is the main reason why I do not pick up the phone when I do not know the phone number on my caller ID box on my landline phone hand set. Please people out there in the world do not pick up the phone if you do not know the number and also please do not answer and call back the phone number if they are wanting you to call them back as soon as possible that is another reason why I know not think I know this is a complete phone scam.
