- Rich| 8 repliesTHIS IS A CREDIT CARD FRAUD ... SOMEONE AT THIS NUMBER HAS STOLEN OUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER. We received a phone call from (301)714-5301 from a lady saying she was from CitiBank/Quicken, and she was calling to verify a $1.37 charge that was made in Pennsylvania ... she then asked for the number on the back of the card ... when I said "no", she said she meant to say that we should call the phone number on the back of the card. My wife immediately called Quicken, and they said it appears as if someone has our credit card & may be doing a test to see if the card is OK and if we catch it. The credit card company is verifying this as a fraud case.
- Caller: said she was from Citibank/Quicken
- BrandonNothing much to report, but I got a call from this number this morning at 5:09 PDT. I didn't wake up to answer and I didn't get a voicemail.
The only reason it's worth noting is that an hour later when I was awake I got a call from Citibank's fraud early warning system checking on some recent charges that I had indeed made.
I'll be monitoring my cards closely. - Scarab| 2 repliesIt is Citibank. I called them back to check.
- lol replies to Rich| 3 repliesnoone has stolen your card at that number... they called me and are the fraud warning department. I didn't give them any credit card info, just verified my verbal password and they had my account information. They are legit, just warning me about fraudulant charges. They closed my account without me giving my number to them and have a new card in the mail to me.
- Don| 2 repliesThere was a message left for me from this number. It was to alert me of a possible credit card problem. They left a call back number of 1-800-690-8056.
Instead of using either of these numbers, I called customer service at my credit card company. The call WAS LEGIT. They cancelled my card and sent me a new one.- Caller: CITI
- Call type: Event reminder
- DONALDAfter getting a call from 301-714-5301 I called customer service.
They wanted to verify a couple of transactions I had made.- Caller: CITICARD

- JobiesLegit number, was verified. they were checking on possible fraud due to an overseas flight booking I made online.
- Caller: Citibank
- Call type: Unwanted
- Alert CallerI received this call as well and I gave all the info they requested. I also called Citi after and both online and their customer service stated that the phone call was legit and it was the Fraud Prevention Dept. The number is legit, the caller ID said Hagerstown, MD.

- Whit replies to lol| 1 replyHate to tell you... but you just gave then carte blanch to your account. You gave then the verbal password!!!!???? I was just called by them, didn't give them any info. Called the real citi bank and they notified me that no one from the company had called me. You see, all they needed was your password. good luck.
- John replies to Don| 1 replySeemed legit. They justed asked to verify that I made a purchase in the amount of $xx.xx. They didn't ask for any account info and I didn't give any account info.
I don't think anyone could do any harm with knowing the amount of a single purchase. Actually, they already knew the amount before talking to me -- I just gave one "yes" response and that was it. In fact, if it was a fraudulent call and there was something they could do with knowing the amount of the purchase, they would just go ahead and do something rather than call me to confirm the purchase. - Kyle replies to JohnThis is not CITI Bank, but it is Mastercard's joint fraud center (for accounts with CITI and a few other banks). They are legit. I'm a cop and I use them for fraud investigations from time to time.
- AP replies to WhitNo, it's a legit call.
- vivI read that many of you find this to number to be legit...but I am concerned. Just returned a call to them when they told me of possible fraud use of a citibank number. Haven't used a Citibank card for years - so when they asked me for my account number I told them I didn't have one. When I explained I closed my citibank card a long time ago and destroyed the card they then asked me for my SS number. When I refused to give it to them they hung up on me. Sounds phishy to me....
- Caller: Fraud Early warning
- MattThis is most definitely a scam, as are some of the comments above. Call the Citi customer service number on your card, as I did. This is not a Citi number and this isn't how they let you know about fraud. Then report the scam to the Federal Trade Commission, as I did. Eventually they will shut it down.
- Caller: claimed to be Citibank
- abcasks for personal info. i contacted citi cust. service and they verified the call .
- Caller: Citi Cards Fraud Department

- toord| 1 replyFirst I received a TXT from Citi asking me to call them regarding CC fraud. I called the number in the back of my card (not the one they sent the TXT from) and indeed there were several fraudulent charges on my account (for about $800 total). As I spoke to the phone rep, I logged into my account and I was able to see the charges she was talking about. There were 4 charges from places I've never heard of and some of them in Mexico (which I'm assuming red flagged my account).
This begs the question why does Citi ask you to call certain number as opposed to the number in the back of your card? In this day and age of fraud and phishing scams it's very hard to tell what's legit and what isn't.- Caller: Citi

- Wonderboy replies to toordTheir method of calling it totally wrong and stupid. It is hard to believe what they are saying and asking for account number. They should only suggest to call back Credit Card company. Why it is hard to understand that anybody can use their method to do more fraud.
- BobI just got a call from the same number but after 2 automated "please hold" notices, it hung up. Went online to see what the number was and people seemed to point to CitiBank. I called CitiBank using the # on the back of the card. They checked their records and they DID NOT call me. Be VERY CAREFUL
- SomebodyGot a call from this number which advised me to call 800-690-8056.
The lady at that 800# number wanted my credit card #, which seemed like a very dumb idea, since I didn't truly know who was answering that #.
So, I called the # on the back of my Citibank American Express card, and it did turn out to be legit call from their "fraud early warning" group.
It's a dumb way to handle potential fraud but it was legitimate.- Caller: Citibank

- NobodyI got a call from this number on May 13 and they told me to call a 1-866 number, which I did not write down. The lady who called me had a very thick accent which I could barely understand, but it sounded like she said she was calling from "Banko Center" or something. If this is Citi, then something's wrong because I closed my citi card over 5 years ago.
