Yesterday I received a call. My caller ID said CMC. When I answered they hung up. I googled and found that CMC is Committee for Missing Children.

I've rec'd multiple phone calls from this # over the past several weeks. They let the phone ring three or four times, never waiting long enough for the answering machine to pick-up on the 5th ring. The calls are made early in the morning, midday, late afternoon, evening and late at night.

This number is 2 digits off of the MCCFFA number that also frequently calls my number.   They have to be Scammers.  Sad that people have to resort to shady tactics to make money and fraud people out of their money.  shame on you people

received a call from 1-301-882-9983 between 1400hrs and 1500hrs on August 05, 2008. when a kid at home answered the call and said I wasn't home, the caller hung up. my wife called me at work to inform me and I looked up the number.

received a call from 1-301-882-9983 between 2:00 and 3:00 pm on January 23, 2009. A male caller asked for my wife (by name). When i told him that she was not at home, the caller hang up. When I did the *69, the number  I looked up the number 301-882-9983 was identified.

received a call at 10:30AM on a monday June 1, 2009  from 301-882-9983. "CMC" was on the caller ID. I answered and there was silence, I said "Hello?" and then more silence. then I hung up.

This is a new one for me!

They (CMC 301-882-9983) called on August 12, 2009 - a self-confident woman asked "Is S... there?" That was my estranged husband's name. I asked her: "I wonder who is calling him?"  She coldly said "Excuse me" and hang up. First I thought that this is my estranged husband's new girlfriend Carla, but no. You know, may be these shady people check whether such and so person indeed lives at this adress - and it could be scary what they can do with this information.

Don't know if this is a collection agency or a supposed charity. I'm getting both kinds of calls. This one is a local MD call area code 301 supposedly most of those are usually from some hotline for charities I've recently found out, but it could be a collection agency.

When I get calls from this number, the caller ID "CMC" appears.  They don't leave a message, but the call sounds as if it is coming from a cell phone.  I can hear what sounds like road noise in the background for about 5-10 seconds.

The 882 exchange in the 301 area code is in the Frederick, Maryland area.

They have been calling almost every other day for months, usually just after 8AM, even on Saturdays. Thanks for the ability to sleep in after a hard work week. VM is just empty white noise. How do we get on the 'DNC' list for this annoying call.

The call my work phone 3 or 4 times a day.  I recognize the number now and do not answer it anymore.  They never let it ring long enough to go to my voicemail.

They call at 8:00am on weekends. It's ridiculous! I now just answer and hangup so I don't have to listen to the phone ring.

Just picked up a phone call from 3018829983 and I said hello. A guy on the line asked "did you bone us?" I said excuse me?? Then he proceeded to ask "how much did yoyou bang?" I immediately hung up...

This number has been calling the house for a couple weeks now.  I am in MD and grew up in the old 301-882 area when MD was all 301.  They always hang up....OOMA is great.  I just added them to my blacklist, and I will never even see the call again.

rec'd a call from this number several times and when I answer there was no one there. Tonight after a moment of silence a woman asked for me by name and said she was from the Committee for Missing Children. After a further search, it appears to be a scam charity (or at least not one that dispenses funds properly!)

I keep getting calls from a CMC when I answer the phone there is no one there. I called the number back 1-301-882-9983 it said it is the Committee for missing children and gives a 1-800594-6135 number to call for customer service. I did not call because it sounds like one of those types of calls that you call back on and they get some information to steal from you. I would not advise calling them back. I will be notifying my local authorities.
