Yesterday I got a call from Bank of America. "Card Service" was on my caller ID. They asked my personal information: SS number and card number. I didn’t give them this information. I told I will call their main phone number to speak to their customer service and hung up. I then tried to access my online account but could not due to a "fraud alert". Have to call BOA to find out what happened.
I have received a couple calls from this phone # and finally the 2nd call they left a voicemail. I already knew it was Bank of America from these postings and so I was already on the phone with them. Instead I just called the customer service # on the back of my card. It's a good thing I did call because there has been fraudulent charges to my credit card and I had to close the account!
Also got called by 302.731.1166. Called back and just got a long wait time, no one picking up music playing. Thanks for your info here, folks. I have already replaced my BofA Visa once due to fraud. Hoping not to have to again. No new charges on the account.
Man, you have to stay so on your toes these days... Thanks again.
Yes, in fact I did get a fraudulent charge of $303 from some company in Spain called something like "IS Allemagne". Now my account is closed and B of A has refunded the money.
Don't give any information to 302.731.1166. After they call, go check your credit card charges from the last day.
I don't usually use my credit card that much but i wanted to take my kids on a little shopping spree for school. I broke out my BOA credit card and off we went. $600.00 later my card stoppeed working. While at the register trying to pay, my cell phone rings. Sure enough it was Bank of America calling to make sure I was the person using the card! I could not believe how accurately they monitor their cards. It was a minor inconvenience but it was for my benefit as well as theres.
11/16/08 - I got a call from this number stating that there was a charge on my account that wasn't mine. After the automated voice service took me to a service rep, I confirmed that it wasn't my charge. The service rep just asked for my name; never asked for my SSN. They canceled the transaction and I wasn't billed. The (302) 731-1166 number is a legitimate BOA number.
Thank God for all these messages here!! I got calls from this number 302-731-1166 twice today. At first I thought it was a scam since it didn't leave any message the first call and a weird automated voice asked me if this was me from the second call. Luckily I checked online found this site and found out it is a legit number from "Bank of America" fraud prevention department. I checked my account right away and found out I became a fraud victim. I followed the steps online and also called to talk to their representive and cleared things right up. The thief made a lot purchases just yesterday and BOA informed me this morning. My cards are still with me but obviously the number is stolen. GO TO HELL, THIEF! AND THANK YOU BANK OF AMERICA!
Bank of America called from 302-731-1166 and left a message informing me that there were possible fradulent charges to my card. As I always do in such cases, I do not call the number that the message instructed me to call. Instead, I called the Customer Service number on the back of the credit card. They verified that the message was legitimate, and we determined that there were several fradulent charges to the card. The card was deactivated, and new ones issued.
I too got a message from 302-731-1166. We had already been notified that there were fraudulent charges on my husband's BOA card. The interesting thing is that when I dialed the above number (autodial on my phone) I got a man's voice and I said that I was responding to a recorded message. He said 'No" and I appologized and hung up. Sounded strange to me
Yep! It's legit. I called the Member Services number on the back of my card and told them I got a call from this number but did not answer it thinking it was some kind if a scam. I found out someone tried to use my credit card number to purchase a $25 phone card. I canceled the card and will not have any charges due to the dilligence of the folks at B of A!
calls from this number show up as 'private caller". the latest call was at 8:27 a.m. sunday morning. when i answer the recorded voice says "estimated wait time in excess of 6 minutes", and if i hold then after 6 minutes the message says" we are unable to take your call at this time, please call back". whatever. this no. calls my home line every day with this scenerio.
I didn't pick up...they called twice today, 4pm and 9 pm. I looked it up on google, saw it was a Delaware area code. I know noone in Delawre. Therefore, I don't answer.
I got a call from this number three times today. Based on the first post, I called Bank of America regarding my credit card and found that my card was blocked due to fraud
Thanks to google I found this post. My card got flagged and they wanted to talk to me. I called back the number the thing I didn't like is they answered the phone generically "Card services can I have you full credit card number" Not really a good intro. I explained that I was returning a missed call and they stopped asking for my card number instead they had me verify my account with other less vulnerable yet secure info and the rest of the call went ok. Just use the 800 number on the card it is free.
