This number is (or was) connected to a pay phone in Boulder, Colorado.  When I called back, I received no answer for over a minute (and then was disconnected).  Someone on another site wrote that it was a solicitation for an auto loan.

I don't know who they are or what they want, but I can only guess that they are scammers using a spoofed number (again).  These calls are illegal, and so I will report them to the donotcall.gov website.

    Also fed up
I just got a call as well. Could tell it was scam. The woman said she was calling about my personal computer. When I questioned she hung up.  Can't trust anyone these days.

    That makes three of us
Also just got a call from this scam - wanted to get into my home computer - wouldn't let them and they got rude - and threatened they had my IP address and would shut me out of windows.  Told them not to threaten me and hung up - they called back three more times (didn't answer) and the third time left a rather nasty cursing message.

I took no crap from them
My mom received a call from them last week concerning the same thing as the previous posts. My poor mom being 70 years old knew right then and there to hang up on them as I warned her about these types of scams. I also told her to let me know if she got a call from them again.
Well, wouldn't you know it, I got that same exact call from this Indian dude, He was reading off a paper to me a mile a minute and I couldn't make out what he was saying. I told him to stop reading off of his "planned speech" and to tell me what he wanted. I swear to God that he had a cassette recording of office noise (talking and phones ringing, etc,...)
Well, I started questioning him and grilling him saying that he was a scam artist and a phoney. I kept asking him how he could live with himself knowing that he is a terrible person trying to do harm and gain money off of people. He assured me that he was a "Genuine Microsoft Windows" employee and that he had proof, but I called him on it!
I guess that he had had enough of my grilling and then started what I am sure was cursing in his native tongue and then hung up on me! How rude!!! I guess that I made him MY [***]!!!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!

    Microsoft Engineer? I call BS
I just received a call from this number and the guy that I was talking to said that my computer would NOT work in the next half hour if I didn't give him access to it through TeamViewer so he could show me where a virus was.

He claimed to be a Microsoft Engineer so I asked for his name, employee number, phone number and extension and he said he would give it to me AFTER he fixed the computer.

I have 5 computers running in my home and they aren't all hooked to the same modem. How could he know which computer was the one that was affected by this so-called "virus".?

Be afraid.... Be VERY afraid of calls like this. There's no way to verify who this person is. I asked him if I could call him back but he wouldn't offer the information I requested.

This is a scam in my opinion. They just want access to your computer so they can pull ALL of your personal information and chances are, create a duplicate identity of you somewhere else.

Giving someone remote access to your computer has to be one of the biggest mistakes you can make unless you know exactly who's viewing it.

He said I could verify his company by going to callmicrotechnician.com which really doesn't tell me anything. There was no employee list and if you do a whois lookup you'll find this information:

    Expiration Date: 2012-06-27
    Creation Date: 2011-06-27    <--------
    Last Update Date: 2011-08-01

    CALLMICROTECHNICIAN.COM SITE INFORMATION

This is awfully strange considering he said he was calling from Texas and the Contact Us page says they're located in Beverly Hills California and the above information shows that this is located in Greece.

    Nothing adds up.

Anyways.... be very careful about who you give access to your computer, especially remotely.

I have been getting numerous calls from odd numbers for over two weeks straight. Whoever is making these calls start at 7:30 a.m.!!!! I don't answer them, but I do occasionally get a voicemail and it's someone with a thick foreign accent. What can I do to stop them??? This is incredibly irritating, and that's putting it mildly.

They wanted to give me $7000 for paying my taxes on time.. Not very smart is he.  Got two more calls from different area codes.  Same story & sounded like the same guy.

A man with an east indian accent said he was from some computer solution's service.  I interrupted him and said I didn't have a computer. I didn't want to be bugged "so to please take me off his list".  He replied,"OK MOTHER F__CKER, GOOD BYE!"  .  I am in Alberta Canada.  Can't anyone do anything about abusive phone calls from potential scammers?

    SOME PEOPLE ARE AWFUL
the call my parents received this evening was actually from 303-256-1031, but it was the exact scenario as those before me mentioned.  except that mom stayed on the line and complied....  an indian-sounding man, who identified himself as a microsoft employee, (name kammy? or similar?) wanted control of their xp due to a virus that he had to fix.  i don't know yet if it was teamviewer they used, but they gained access of the parent's desktop.  and asked if the parents do any online banking, by chance?  then it sounds like they uploaded some stuff. we're not sure yet, this literally just happened, but i'm posting this now in case it helps someone else tonight even! THIS IS VERY SCARY, FOLKS!!  IF SOMEONE CALLS YOU ASKING FOR INFORMATION, PLEASE SAY NO AND JUST HANG UP THE PHONE!!!!  And if they call back, it doesn't automatically make it ok to talk.  Thieves have redial, too.

This morning at 0904 I received a phone call from (303)442-9290 stating the were apart of the Government. they asked me to go to the nearest Western Union to receive a Grant. Then they said I was selected to receive this grant because I have payed my taxes on time and never filed for bankruptcy. the next thing they said was in order to receive the Grant I would have to go to western union with my photo ID and pay a security of $199.99 and within 5 minutes I would receive $7,500 plus the security of $199.99. then they gave me a money account # and then they gave me another account #. last thing they said was their connecting me to their boss to verify when I plan to go get the money. Then the phone disconnected.

This IS A SCAM - they are stealing money.  there is no grant at all

    Government Grant Scams
Although government grant scams have been around almost as long as the government itself, the majority of the sites being advertised today didn't exist before the November 2008 election.

The "free money" scam has been around almost as long as the human species.

It has more variations than a bulldog has wrinkles but you can count on one thing: the government (any government) does not simply give money away to individuals. Anyone who tells you differently has larceny in his heart.

If you give him your bank account number, he will soon have your funds in his pocket.

The person on the other end of the call stated that my computer has alot of viruses on it.  Couldn't really understand the person as spoke with an indian accent.  Hard to make out much of what he was saying. Hung up as not sure what he wanted.
