Seems to be calling about debt of my sons.

Caller ID = NELNET INC.  Definitely a debt collector, trying to recover a school loan debt from a grown up son who hasn't been in school in 10 years.  According to Wikipedia Nelnet is a "Nebrask-based lending conglomerate that deals in the administration and repayment of student loans."

The male caller spoke good American English and tried to leave a message on my answering machine, but I picked up the receiver and hung up.  He immediately redialed, at least a dozen times, presumably with an automatic dialer.  Every time I'd pick up and immediately hang up, then his dialer would immediately redial.  Sometimes the call would come in as NELNET INC on phone number 402-972-4665.  There were also some calls from TOLL FREE CALLER at 855-720-8905.  Maybe it was the same guy.  Anyway I finally picked up the receiver and left it on the table.  Every now and then you could hear the caller ask "Bill?"...."Bill?", my son's name.  All he could hear was the roar of a nearby fan, and maybe an occasional snicker from me.  Finally he hung up and I left the receiver off hook.  I've now blocked all 3 numbers.  The phone company will answer "Sorry this phone does not receive calls of this type."  Ain't technology grand.  :-)

I got a message saying they were the federal education department and they had good news for me to get back in school... I have been out of school for 5ish years now and have no desire to go back. They asked for my DOB and SS number so I hung up. They also said I only had until midnight to get my claim on the "Good News"

I wish they would stop calling through 3 different numbers and after 8:30 at night. Know it is scammers because i do not have any outstanding educational loans. Be wary of these people. My phone is on the do not call and I've told them that. Think i will be filing a complaint with my court to get them fined for violating the do not call rules.
