- DBall| 5 repliesScam threatening with legal investigation.
- vrowe replies to DBallA lady named Tracy Butler called my daughter saying I owed $1000.00 for a Hch overdraft, and gave her a lot of information about how they were going to file a warrant if I did not pay it. I called the number and talked to Ms. Butler and asked for the check #, amount of check and date of check or debit. She said she did not have that information, but the amount owed was $500.00 (she told my daughter $1000) and she wanted to settle it without going to court, but it had to be settled within 24 to 48 hours or warrants would be filed. I told her to go ahead and file the warrants, I wasn't sending anything without proof of debt, and I had used the same bank for over 20 years and didn't do checks or debits, and I would sue her for false charges. She hung up on me. My daughter contacted the company she said she was with and they said they were trying to catch the people doing this scam, that they were falsely using their name, and getting money from elderly people in this scam. Never send anyone any money without first contacting your bank, or other institution, to verify any information to prove it. I refuse to be scammed!

- DBall replies to AngryIt's a scam, debt is a civil case. You can't goto jail and no warrant would be put out for your arrest. These scam clowns try to use scare tactics on people.
- Upset with These Clowns replies to Angry| 3 repliesI received the same call from this clown at my job. I didn't respond. I'm reporting them to the Attorney General's office, FTC and local police. I blocked their number from my cell. The guy's so-called name is John Scott Attorney with Allenspark Associates of which does not exist. He had a strong indian accent. Hmm! Very american isn't he! You could tell he's reading from a script. He gave the same number 303-747-7947.
- TA replies to Upset with These ClownsI had the same call, where this "gentleman" with an Indian accent threatened me over a debt that was cleared through a chapter 7 two years ago. He said it was a courtesy call and that I had 2 options. Pay $1987 now or have my attorney call him. If I wanted to have my attorney call, then he would place an order with the county courthouse and they would place a warrant for my arrest. I spoke with my attorney, the city police, the county police and the Illinois Attorney General's office. All of them say its a scam. Moreover, as was stated above, you cannot be arrested for an outstanding debt.
- dvbsame call, I would be arrest if o do not call them backtoday
- mateomariPeter Brown keeps calling me at work on my cell. This has to stop.
- Pamela| 1 replyI got a phone call this morning at work. He has a strong middle eastern accent. He calls himself an attorney with Harold & Harts. His first name was Jeff (couldn't understand the spelling of his last name).
When I told him that I didn't understand what he was saying he called me a fraud and made the mistake of arguing with me. I politely hung up on him.- Caller: Harold & Harts Associates

- DebI just received a call from someone from Hart & Associates. He was foreign and I couldn't understand everything he was saying but he told me he was going to call my Employer and get a warrant out because I didn't pay what I owed and it was against a federal law and that there was a state investigation on me. He told me if they filed a warrant I would owe $11,958.00. I was skeptical because I knew I didn't owe that. I asked who is client was and what amount that I supposedly owed and he told me his client was American Cash Advance. I never heard of them before, so I looked them up. It a cash advance store in Tennessee and I live in WI and never been to Tennessee and certainly don't have a cash advance loan with them or any other company of that nature. I told the guy to not call me again and hung up on him as he was yelling at me that he would get a hold of my Employer and file a warrant. This is kind of scary for me and I am going to report it to the police.

- KirraSCAM!! I got a phone call from this number that a law firm representing American Cash Advance wanted to bring me up on charges of money laundering and fraud to name just a few of the charges. Threatened me with jail time and a huge fine, everything under the sun to get me to comply. I did not even pursue using the web site to gain money and they said that I owed them money still. They said they would settle out of court for an amount of $475.52. I had the feeling this was a scam so I did not choose to settle. I asked for them to file the papers instead and take my chances with an attorney if need be.

- Alfalfa replies to David KempThis is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:
http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/phantom-debt-co ... ory?id=16512428 - Billie| 1 replyIdentical to what others are saying. I've received several calls from this number and messages were left on my phone from "Peter Brown" and "Steve Hart" after I hung up on "Steve". He WA so completely rude! At one point I said that couldn't understand him because his accent was quite strong and he was speaking so fast. I asked him to repeat himself and he yelled at me and said "I have important info for you. You need to be quiet and let me finish talking because this is a time sensitive matter"
When I told him I didn't appreciate his rude manner and that I wouldn't give him any money without proof from whichever company claims I owe them. Then he said he was going to send me an email and give me 20 mins to decide if I was going to pay and then the police would be coming for me.
He did send a bogus email. A few moments later I noticed I'd missed a few calls and those calls were local to me. In the process of looking up those numbers I found out that they were from my local police dept records division! Just at that point an incoming call from 911 came in so I answered it. It was another idiot from the same company saying "hello this is officer so and so from the police dept....why are you not answering when I call you?" so I again hung up. About 30 seconds later my phone rings from 303-747-7947 again and I let it go to voicemail. "Steve" says that the police just called him to say that I hung up on them so he knows I am a "fraud woman" haha and he will go ahead and file And see me at the courthouse and watch me get taken away in handcuffs! Haha
Since then he's left me tons of messages and lots of calls. What pisses me off is that he starts the calling at 6am!! The calls come in 3's and then stop for an hour and startup again.- Caller: Hart & Associates

- Billie replies to BillieI forgot to mention that he also called my boss. I contacted her after I read on here that that happened to others as well. By the time I had contacted her he'd already called her and left a message. She simply erased it figuring it was junk.
By the way, does anyone know how the heck they called me and made it look as if it were coming from my local PD? - ConnieSame guy keeps calling me also from 303-747-7947. Someone should stop these people. They keep on harrassing people and they should be stopped. I am just not going top answer my phone. They keep leaving messages so I just erase them. This is annoying!!!
