Lawrence - 21 Mar 2008I also received a call from M.J. Hecker and Associates who are apparently a debt collection agency. The number that they left was (303) 561-4307. I only reached an automated message recording system at the (303) 561-4307, but I did use the (303) 964-0589 number that I found on this post to reach a live person and get my fax line deleted from their automated calls. Hopefully, they did delete my number.

Martin J. Hecker is a Lawyer and his collection agency is run by a frustrated and disgruntled high school graduate. The company is not professional by any stretch of the imagination.
MJ Hecker and Associates does not pay its bills. Not to its employees,
or creditors in a timely way. The truth is, there should be a debt collection agency, or Attorney General going after them. Hint!
If you want the harrassing phone calls to stop call the State Attorney General's Office and let them know that MJ Hecker and Associates is guilt
of misappropriation of client funds!
Trigger a Stae Audit of MJ Hecker and Associates. I gurantee there doors
will close.

Do not call.gov - 31 Jul 2008I am registered at the government page www.donotcall.gov and this "law firm" still calls me since months. Luckely you can easily file a complain on the government webpage. This complain can be used against the company if there is an investigation.
I am sure there will be an investigation soon if a "law firm" uses cold-calls to registered do-not-call phones to make money.

I don't mind to pay what I owe. The problem is this low beat lawyer doesn't provide proper information, if any at all are ever provided, and they use low tactics. I don't mind paying for something I owe if the information I receive is correct and again if ever received. Duh! Oh and when you do ask for information it will literally take months to receive and it is my guess they will continue to tack on some ridiculous charge each month...which I won't pay for. Good luck and know your rights!

Kevin - 27 Oct 2008I also recieved a call from M.J. Heckler & assoc claiming that they would settle out of court for $500 for a check of $23.56. I read the Colorado Revised Statute 13-21-109. According to section 2A They are entitled to 3 times the face value of the check (which is $70.68) or no less than $100.00. With this information I called back and offered to pay immediatly.
I was told they would settle for no less than $400. My lawyer advised me to send the payment of $100.00 which I did. The law does state that they may charge a person court and lawyer fees of a reasonable amount, however not before a hearing and a judges order. I work in collections and have for a number of years. The tactic they are using is unethical. Basically they try to threaten your credit in order to collect more money then they are entitled to. If you pay it you are an idiot. However unethical this may be, I dont believe it is a crime. If this happens too you: read the statute. Pay your bill. File a complaint with the board.

Concerned phone user - 10 Aug 2007I have been getting these same calls for months now and up to 3 or 4 times a day. It is so frustrating, but I just figure it is some kind of scam and I know if a lawyer was trying to get ahold of you about an important matter, they would call in person. Also this number is unlisted and just shows it is in Denver, CO area code. I keep thinking I'll call my phone provider, but that would entail an hour or more on the phone to get to a live person, so what do you do? 303-964-0589

I work for a Denver law firm and I just got a call from them and thought it was a scam so I was about to call them up and let them know they had just called a lawyers office and I was going to light em up...but then I looked in my CO Lawyers Directory and he's in there...Martin J. Hecker, but I don't know what kind of law he practices.
