- crys| 15 repliesgot 3 back to back calls from this number. the IRS will NEVER call you. they only correspond by mail. The only call you would get would be a local number from an IRS agent if you are working with one. they will give you their badge/id number and send you letters before contacting you by phone.
- DC| 2 repliesI requested help from the Taxpayer Advocate Service in a dispute I have with the IRS. About two weeks after filing my request, I got a call from this number from the advocate assigned to help me. It's legit but that doesn't mean a scammer couldn't be spoofing it.
- Caller: IRS / National Taxpayer Advocate
- VAThis is the IRS Taxpayer Advocate calling I had a dispute and they called me back
- Caller: IRS - Taxpayer Advocate
- Annoous caller| 2 repliesThat's strange because she said she was calling about and appointment
I made 6 months ago which i camceled she ask me personal questions. I did call my local office. They only communicate through letters plus my appointment was 7 states away from where she called. That does not make sense. I think she is a whisleblower to make money
My background is information security. The IRS will only contact you by mail or if you contact them direct. She could not even bring up my file. Thank god I only have her information that not relevant. If she tries to do something they will catch her.- Caller: IRS
- NY| 2 repliesThe call is legitimate. In my case it was from an IRS agent about scheduling an audit. When the IRS calls you, they do not show the actual phone number. Instead they use this number.
- Just because... replies to NY... your call was legitimate, doesn't mean scammers can't spoof the number.
- REECE replies to crys| 4 repliesThe number is legit. I would answer it. I filed an appeal regarding a letter from the IRS and a representative called me back and helped me prove identity theft

To protect yourself, if you get a call from this number, verify it is from the REAL IRS by checking with your local IRS office. - DanI received back to back calls from this number from someone to left a voice mail claiming to be a taxpayer advocate and informing me that they would try calling again the following day. This seemed extremely suspicious to me as I had not received any correspondence from the IRS through the mail. In my experience the IRS will call you, but the first interaction will be through the mail. Later in the day I received a call from someone who owes me money and they informed me that this person was calling on their behalf to let me know that their tax return had been delayed, but it is on the way. So in my experience this call was from the IRS/Taxpayer Advocate Center however it wasn't directly related to any dealings I had with the IRS. Don't be afraid to take the call and listen to what they have to say. You don't have to give them any of your personal information if you don't want to, but just listening can't hurt you.
- Caller: IRS Taxpayer Advocate
- Bart replies to REECEI just got a call from 1-304-350-7010, and it is for real. IRS US GOV. I sought help with the IRS Tax Advocate Service thru my Congresswoman on the 12th. and got this reply today the 17th. Caller ID showed US GOV. I am not sure scammers can show that.

- alisa replies to j| 13 repliesThis is not a scam. It is the tax advocate's office in Portsmouth, NH. They work with members of Congress from New Hampshire as advocates for any of NH constituents having problems with the IRS. They're the good guys.
- Alisa replies to crys| 2 repliesThis is not the IRS. The number belongs to the tax advocate's office in New Hampshire and they work with the Senators and House Members from New Hampshire to help negotiate settlements with the IRS. If you received a call from this number most likely you complained to your member of Congress about a problem with the IRS and your member of Congress contacted the Tax Advocates' office to help you handle the matter.
