Spoofed Numbers: Caution, 305-000-4565, 3789 etc.,  is a "spoofed" number, which means that whoever called you "tricked" your caller ID to display an incorrect phone number. They may be using a supposedly legal software called http://www.spoofcard.com/. Try filing a complaint about this service to your state and federal govt. authorities such as the FTC.

Telemarketers do this so you cannot complain, but they failed. Not sure if filing a complaint on this site will have any effect, but you can try: http://www.callercomplaints.com

This number continuosly calls my house saying that I can lower my credit card rates.  I don't even have any credit cards!  When I press 9 to speak to a customer service rep, I politely ask that they remove me from their calling list and they hang up on me before I even finish speaking.  The number is constantly on my caller ID.

These people also call using  the id of "Bouton, Clinton" 407-682-2241. Report them to your states attorney general if you are on the "do not call" list.

    annoyance caller
This guy keeps calling about "lower your credit card rates"

*69 reports that the number that is doing the calling is 305-000-3789. 305-000-3789 doesn't even work.

This last time he called, I pressed 9 to speak to a person. I asked for a phone number I could contact him with. He gave me 888-474-3562 which is a number for a dating service.

I told the guy on the phone that I reported this call a few times. He angrily replied with "Did they do anything? See if we were not legit they would have shut us down. We have not been shut down. So we are legit."

Then I come on here and find out that he is using a spoofed number.

Why do this if you are legit?

    1. He is ignoring the do not call registry. He is violating the law by calling numbers on the do not call registry. Legit?

    2. He will not remove my number from his list after being told by me to remove. Legit?

    3. He is using spoofed caller ID numbers. Legit?

    4. He provided me with a fake contact number. Legit?

I contacted my phone company and they want me to file a police report and then they will enable *57. Every time I get one of these calls, I am supposed to dial *57 which will gather information on the last caller. After three *57's they will send the information to the police referencing the police report I filed. Sucky thing is they don't give me the information! This guy knows the police aren't going to do crap about an annoyance call unless it's about bomb threats, kidnapping, or threats to life or bodily harm.

The guy was really confident when he said "Did they do anything?"

He knows nobody is going to do anything!

    1. Most people will not do anything and live with the constant annoyance.

    2. Some people report the fake number like I did. Nothing will ever happen doing that.

    3. There will be very, very, very small numbers of people that file the police report. Nothing will ever happen doing this.

So this guy can confidently say "Did they do anything?"

He knows he can get away with this and there is nothing anyone can do.

Why do phone companies allow spoofing of numbers? What good could ever come from this? If this was unintentional by having crappy telecommunications technology, upgrade it. Yeah - cost money. Why can't I block certain phone numbers from calling me? Since the beginning of the phone people have been having problems with prankster and telemarketers that won't stop calling. Why hasn't the tech been upgraded to allow the viewing of real numbers, automatic blocking of calls from people that don't want their number shown, blocking of specific phone numbers specified by me, etc.

Why can't I get the real number of the person that called me at specific date and time? The police can do it when someone has been murdered. IT IS MY PHONE. IT IS MY TIME. IT IS MY SLEEP BEING DEPRIVED. I want to know the real number of the person that is called me. It's my phone. If you don't want me to know the number, simply don't call me. It's ridiculous. If I had the real number, I could report it. If I had the real number I could shut it down by doing what he is doing to me until he removes my number. What am I suppose to do? Get a new number? Then wait until it starts on that number too. This crap needs to stop. I guess the only reason to not provide information on the person that called you is to keep them from being "fixed" outside the law because the law won't do anything.

Call almost daily claiming to lower our credit card interest rates.  When I informed them that I'm on the national do not call list, the woman said to me "your mom is full of [***]."  Can you believe this?

Received this call in the past, but tonight was the worst episode ever! At 5:58 PM, my phone rang with the number, 1-305-000-3789, on my caller ID. When I answered, I got the usual recorded message, telling me to press 9 to speak to a rep. When I pressed 9, a man came on the phone and started talking about how he could lower my rate, etc. I told him sternly that I wanted to speak to his supervisor. He said, "How does it feel to want?". Told him it felt great. He changed his tune and asked if he could help. I asked to speak to his supervisor and when the "supervisor" came on the line (same guy, not a different person) I told him I was on the do not call list and I wanted him to remove my number from the list and not call back again. His response was that I should tell my wife to remove her [body part] from his [body part]!!!!!!!!!!

So help me God, if I could have reached through the phone, I would have ripped every ounce of his skin off.

This is beyond harassment. If the previous posts are true, and the police (and/or FCC) can't or won't do anything about it, what's the plan? If I answer the phone when the criminals call and tell them I'm FBI and that the call has been traced, I can be charged with impersonation. And the thing is the criminals HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER TO REPORT ME IF I SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE OR DEROGATORY OR HARASSING!!!

I invite any comments or ideas that anyone may have in regards to doing something about this. And I'm talking about real results, not a pointless effort. Thanks for listening.

Ten or so years ago, a telemarketer sued an irate call victim for breaking his ear drum with a police whistle.  Ten years is quite a while, and the telemarketer didn't collect, so I think it's time to break out that whistle again.

This afternoon I received a call from 305-000-3789. In the past it was 305-000-4575. Same computer message. Lowering the interest rate on my credit cards. I told the lady who picked up the phone that I was on a do not call list. She told me she had every right to call me, since my name and phone number was given to her from some agency. They had my social security number and address and phone number. I told her again, and again that I was on a do not call list and would appreciate her noting that. She raised her voice to me in an angry tone and then I replaced the phone on the receiver. With the advent of identity theft I implore everyone do not give any information over the phone. I am enraged to think that no one will step up to the plate and take care of this.

these people need to be stopped
I've had similar situations. I told them I would report them to the Attorney General, he said "go ahead, that [***] won't do anything.  Give him my name Ricky Bobby"

Got the call but left it go to my answering machine. They left no message. Also got a call from the 321-251 number. Probably the same guy. I'm gonna try something the next time that works pretty well with obscene calls. Get the loudest whistle you can get and when the jerk comes on the line blow it directly into the receiver as loud as you can and hopefully ruin his hearing for life!

    Let's jerk their chain...
I have been having trouble with these people too.  Since there is nothing we can do about it... I say we jerk their chain instead.  I'm going to dial 9 everytime they call, and lead them to believe I am interested.  See how long I can waist their time, give them a bunch of bogus info.  Maybe if I waist their time enough they will finally get the hint and stop calling me.

What a mess! Hey, everybody, If you want to do something other than list your complaints on this site, than use your caller ID as originally intended and STOP answering these unslocited/unknown numbers. I know first hand that the calls will eventually stop (takes about a year). Any legit and important call will always leave a detailed message, or, will already know of an alternate means of contacting you.
The Police Dept(those that aren't already laid-off), Attorney General, CPA, Do Not Call List, or any other Congress Person or Agency never has, nor ever will, have the time to put a stop to this scamming, bait-n-switch, and annoying nonsense. It can only be controlled at the consumer level, and if you keep answering such junk, they'll just keep calling...plain and simple!
The GOOD NEWS is that only get two or three calls a week now, which is way down from the 30 to 40 per week I used to get. PLEASE STOP ANSWERING and trying to push back at some nobody on the other end of your phone line that is looking for a fight...most of these folks are just legitimatley desperate and ignorant morons sitting in a cramped call center with low slalary and no benefits...think sweatshop) as this blog clearly indicates, so let these creatures be and move on for the betterment of all of us!
Although I agree it is terrible that we can no longer answer our own phones, its a haboit that is easy to break. And, at least we have a Caller ID systemm that works most of the time! But its up to each of us to use it to our advantage (it isn't intended to be a 'weapon of war' against telemarketers, it is simply meant to give us a choice...so please choose wisely and enjoy the day :-].

This company called today offering to lower my interest rates on my credit cards. The representative claimed that the company was based in Florida and was named "Account Services".

When I pointed out this telemarketing call was in violation my do-not-call status, the representative insisted that her company was authorized to call me on behalf of VISA/Mastercard Services (and therefore not covered by DNC).

While it is true that I do have a credit card, I do not believe that "Account Services" is a legitimate agent of VISA/Mastercard. I've written my credit card company to complain about the misuse of their name.

I will also file a FCC complaint.

I am on a do not call list.  Received automated message stating benefits of government possible low rates, selected 9 to speak with representatative.  Man who answered said I reached wrong department when I asked to be taken off call list.  He replied, asking if I was calling to make a payment and said I reached the wrong # and hung up on me.

I'm concerned for those less intelligent that will be taken for granted and might be scammed.  Obviously our tax dollars should not be spent on monitoring/prohibiting calls from being made, however they should lock up scum who take advantange of those less fortunate.  Fraud is illegal.
