CAll comes in at night and early morning.  Disconnects once you answer. I almost think its tied to crossed lines.  WHen I call back is says this number os not in service.

I have been recieving these calls over the last four days.  Called AT&T to block all collection calls but it has had not effect. They come in from 11am to 3am in the morning.  They are driving me nuts.

Received a collect call from this number asking to be connected to another caller followed by two call from (734) 485-9511 immediately afterwards.

I didn't pick it up, but somehow they left a message on my cell phone voicemail; sounded like an operator saying something about a collect call.

We have been getting calls from this number for the past 5 days and just now decided to look it up on google.... wow i had no idea!!  I had heard about this kind of thing.

Do NOT pickup that call.

You will be billed for it...as it is a collect call from a Florida Prison.

I had the misfortune of having my answering machine pickup up those calls, and even though my machine did not OK the call...how could it...I was still billed by some outside phone company as a piggy back charge onto my AT&T phone bill.

Since then, I have turned off my answering machine.

this is a collect phone call from the miami-dade county jail system and its not free if take the call. its like $2.25 PER CALL

I have also been receiving calls from  # 305-455-0396 for 2 1/2 days now. The calls come in every 10-15 minutes or so...all day and through the night. After about 80 calls which I could not answer because it was coming into the fax line, I disconnected the line from the fax and picked up the next call. A recorded announcement says "This is a COLLECT call from the Miami-Dade Correction Center, giving me three options, either to accept, not accept or block. I did not press any of the options offered and just hung up. I called my telephone provider ATT and they could not help me! Couldn't believe that. I then contacted the Metro-West Detention Center at 786-263-5101. They gave me a number to Global Tel Link 1877-650-4249 to block this number from my phone lines. Global Tel Link was able to go into my phone line to see if I had been charged and found that $51.75 WAS billed to my phone!  They credited my phone bill and documented the complaint. They told me it would take 2-3 billins cycles for the credit to go through and blocked that phone number from my phone lines. While this has been a very annoying occurrence, indeed, I was so very pleased by the efficiency of Global Tel Link! Good luck!

.I also recieved the same call about a week ago. My wife made the mistake of accepting this call. I immediatly call the phone company to lodge a complaint and they said I had to wait till i receive my bill to dispute any charges. With all this technology, I thought the phone co would help right away

I heard a voice message that was in Spanish. I started freaking out, because i heard the words detention center and miami and stuff. I am a law abiding person with neat ethics and clean records. Never gotta traffic ticket even. I recently graduated from Miami and moved to Ohio for my job.

I was wondering if the police was trying to reach me or something, I couldn't tell because, it was all in Spanish. Could some one help?

*72 Prison Scam
How it works: You receive a call from an operator saying there is an inmate from a correctional facility who needs you to accept a collect call and the associated charges. Once you accept the call, the caller convinces you to hang up your phone, dial in *72 and another phone number. * 72 is the code used to forward your incoming calls to another number, if you have call forwarding service or if it's available on a per-use basis in your local exchange. If you do this, the inmate will then make additional collect calls to your number, but the calls will be forwarded to someone the inmate knows at the number where you forwarded the calls. That person accepts the charges, but they are billed to you. Often you don't realize this has happened until you notice your phone not ringing or you receive your bill with numerous unexpected charges.

So wait that IS the number for the jail in Miami? I know someone who JUST went to jail there and I missed a call from that number and like everybody else I called back and it says its no longer in service. So it could be the person I know calling?
