    Good for you!

    Lurkers:
A phone call from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:

    * Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.   ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]

    Source:
    https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.

IF you wish to communicate with the supposed collector / creditor, visit  the following page, for example "Action Letters" to snailmail:
    http://www.consumerfinance.gov/blog/debtcollection/

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:

This middle eastern accent person called using the name Kevin Jones. Not very creative to say the least. He told me to make contact with his department, with no detail on the name of the department or where, or something will happen. Again, no details. Total scam. Like another comment he said I wish you luck with what happens next if you don't make contact.

Threatening message left just like the others have said. He said if he doesn't hear back from me or my attorney he wishes me luck with what unfolds. Jerk! Total scam since I know I owe nothing to anyone and have never taken out a payday loan. I blocked the call after his two attempts at leaving threatening messages.

Got a call from Simon Sym (a man with a very heavy Indian accent) from Bonner & Associates Attorney Office.  He was calling to get the name of my attorney for papers that would be served to me on Monday morning.  When I asked what the charges were for he said I'd taken out a loan with US Credit Services who own 150 other companies who give out unsecured loans, payday loans, etc.  When I asked when I took out this loan he did not have an answer but told me that USCS had sent me 13 emails about the debt and that he was not trying to collect a debt and that I didn't need that information.  He had my email address, former employer, the last 4 of my social, and the last 4 of a very old bank account.  When I explained that I wasn't going to proceed until I received an official verification of debt to my home address he laughed at me.  (I asked under the instruction of the Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Protection Bureau.)  Simon said he worked for the affidavit processing department of the US Attorney's office.  I told him that, under the circumstances of the conversation, and he hung up on me.  I called back and asked to speak to him again.  He laughed at me again and hung up.  I called back again and spoke with another man with a very heavy Indian accent.  I asked him for the name of the attorney in his office, their bar number, and the state in which they practice law.  He told me to look it up myself.  When I told him that he would tell me he said, "no, I'm not in the mood to tell you," agreed when I called him unprofessional and also hung up on me.  This happened twice more.  Upon my final call, no one answered and it went to a fast busy signal.  Please beware of people who act like this.  I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and ic3.org (the internet computer crime complaint department).  When people try to defraud me of my money, I don't mess around.

Very thick Indian accent says they are from Bonner & Associates. Sounds like a scam, of course. My identity was stolen a few years ago and these scambags surface every now and then. Found another website that verifies they are fraudsters and illegally using the real firms name.
