Some guy with a metro PCS phone. Called me telling me my dad was being beaten by gang members and they are holding him hostage for backing up over a bike. The weird thing is my dad died when I was ten. So I played along, he wouldn't tell his adress (for fear of gang retaliation) or tell me what store he was at. I begged and begged him to tell me the address with all the acting skills I can muster.
Some time after telling an off screen "person" to call the police. He hung up.

And 15 minutes later he called asking if I called the police. Saying "well theys goin keel yo pops" he hang up after a "No and..."

He was calling out of Miami and it seems to be an disposable phone. I'd love to do a lookup but I just don't have the cash, seeing as I have to Rescue my aunt from the Yakuza./joke

Same kind a scenario.  The guy called me telling me a friend backed over a bike and he was being beaten up.  He wanted money or help or something...said he was located near Miami Beach.  He said they took the guy inside and he did not get his name.  He also said that he was taking a chance by calling me and that he feared gang retaliation.

My wife just received the same type call from this number. He called her and said that her husband (i.e. me) had just hit some motorcycle and some guys pulled me out of the car and started beating me up and said they would kill me unless she went over there with money.

I have contacted a police officer friend who will be looking this phone up. Hopefully, whoever is doing this is stupid enough to keep using the phone so the cops can get him.

This guy did the same thing to me! He called me telling me that they had my brother about a week ago. My brother does get into to stupid situations so I was following his orders while also texting my brother's girlfriend. He wanted me to western union money to Puerto Rico and then I could talk to my brother. Thankfully I got a hold of him before I sent the money. I ended up getting the name if who they wanted me to send the money to.
Then today this stupid man has the audacity to call me again telling me another one of my family members has been in an accident!

I made a police report but nothing has happened yet.

This call comes from a cell phone, out of Florida (Leon County) Tallahassee.  The "switch" (which I assume means the tower it relays off) is located near Lafayette Park.  New Cingular Wireless is their service provider.

This happened to my family also.  They called my husband saying that they had our son and that they would kill him.  My husband called me right away to see if my son was at home.  He was at school and I got in touch with him to make sure that he was fine, which he was.  In the mean time my husband was out of the country when he received the call and obviously until we found out that it's a scam, we almost had a heart attack!!!!! These people need to be found.  Someone is going to really get seriously hurt because of stupid pranks or they do get money out of people not to mention the scare they put you through.  I also reported it to the police.  All of us should get this on the news so that other people know that this is a scam and have it put out there so that the public knows.  I have called the news station but they said that they would get back to me.  I guess it's not news worthy until someone actually gets hurt and it becomes tragic!!!!
