No reply when I answered the phone. I called the number back and it was disconnected.
tried calling the number back and it said no longer in service or disconnected!! how are calls going out but no longer in service? and they wonder why people are paranoid to answer the phone or screen out their calls. I just wish that the DO NOT CALL system really worked and the hackers couldn't get thru.
I got a call from this number too! on my cell, when i answered, it said that this is a final notice for confirmation on my car's classification. Press one now if you would like to be connected to an operator. I was suspicious, so I decided to hang up before it continued its call sequence of annoyance.
Just received the same call tonight, as I have in the past from this number. I say hello and no one answers. I've called back only to get a discontinued number message. What is the purpose to call and not even answer, especially if it is some scam that they are trying to lore me into.
I get this recorded solicitation at least one a week. We get the same recorded solicitation at work on those lines as well. I used to immediately hang up, but a month or so ago renewed listing my cell phone number on the National Do Not Call list and received the same call just a couple weeks later. The recording stated that it was in "regards to your account" to get "lower interest rates" and offered the option to press 1 to speak to a representative or 2 to stop receiving further notices. I chose option 2. Therefore, I was especially angry when I got the call again, on the same phone, a week later. This time I chose 1 to speak with a representative. Now knowing that it is illegal for a call to be placed to a number that has signed up on the registry, I planned to find out what company was placing these calls. Not only was the call being placed, but I knew I certainly did not have an established account as I hold only one account which could be subject to lower rates. I asked the represetative who answered what company she represented. She replied, "Are you calling about the lower rates?" and I replied back, "I have not called in, I have received a call and want to know what company is placing this call." I was hung up on. Today (November 18, 2008) I got the call from # 305-836-7371. In an attempt to not "scare off" another representative, I asked innocently, "what account are you calling in reference to?" and was immediately hung up on. I tried calling back and got the disconnected message: "This number is not a working number. If you feel you have reached this message in error, please hang up and dail again."
They just pulled the same crap on me. B4 the rep said much I interrupted by asking what credit card, what bank. That prompted an irate response from the rep filled with profanity and threatening to ruin my credit rating. I've also had countless calls from this number which I don't answer when I'm near a phone with caller ID.
I Recieved a call from this number...it comes up "Call Center, Florida"..When I answered No one was on the other end...Dead Air...When I called the number back, Its disconnected
I got a call from this number as well this morning; 305-836-7371 - Florida. They left NO message and I called it back and the number is not working, VERY weird.....
Just got a call from 305-836-7371. I answered and there was no response, only dead air. When I called the # back, a recording says that the # is "disconnected"!!!
I then ran a search, which identifies that number as a landline, but is registered to a possible of 4 individuals, each at various addresses, but all in the area of Miami, Florida.
I don't know what to make of this, but it sounds like a scam in the making. I guess the lesson to learn is not to give any information over the telephone to anyone - just hang up. Good luck!
I just got 2 calls from these people less than 5 minutes apart! They called the cell 3 times last night. I also pressed 2 to cancel these calls, but they're still calling back. I also tried speaking to a rep and he hung up on me. I asked him which credit card they represented. He said Visa, MC, and AmEx. I asked how one company can represent all 3 major card companies. He said they have about 77 banks as clients including Chase and Bank of America that they're calling on their behalf. I discovered that while I was requesting to have my number removed, he hung up on me.
If you're registered with Do Not Call, go to their website at www.donotcall.gov and file a complaint. Seems like thousands of people are getting these calls so we need to tell the registry about it so those people get fined for not paying for the registry list and annoying us to death!
They are alive and well and today it was a recorded voice saying that they had been trying to contact me about my account. I couldn't even ask. I figure any legitimate credit card company is going to give their name and be "live." With people panicking about the economic situations, they probably decided to start up again.
To anybody who receives the scam calls from 305/836-7371, you can file a written complaint with the FTC to try to stop this fraudulent carap. I have been licensed as a Texas attorney for almost 15 years, and this type of call irritates me than almost anything else that I have dealt with. I have lodged a complaint against the, and you can also mail in your written complaint to:
Federal Trade Commission Consumer Response Center 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20580-0002
I don't think any form of the complaint is necesary, but a letter explaing why you are complaining should do the trick.
Just got the call as well. If you're number they are calling is registered with the official "Do not call" list (www.donotcall.gov) and has been registered for at least 31 days, you can file a formal complaint on their site.
