- MattCalled our company claiming to be National Business Advertising. Following up on a bogus invoice they sent us for $829. This is totally a scam and clearly by the way the phone system is set up used for many different company names. Everything is conveniently generic. Don't let them suck you into paying anything. I have complained to the BBB and put in a complaint also with the FTC.

- Kim| 1 replyCalled us wanting to send a "final" invoice. Gave them my name and address to send anything to us, but not to order anything. They called a few months later telling me they had turned me into some bogus company for accounting in Texas (where I live) and that I now owed them over $1000 for 19 clicks on the yellow pages online... they then played back a recording of me when I told them to send any final bills to me to see what they were, but they had cut that part out.

- Alfalfa replies to KimConsumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt076.shtm - Na LeoGot a call for 305-851-6494. They claim to represent Yellow Book. We believe it is a scam since they have been harrassing us for many years regarding an invoice of several thousand dollars. They've never done a thing for us.

- David| 3 repliesGot a call from them claiming to be a collection agency and trying to collect on an invoice for $829. Said in nebraska they only need the recording to collect the debt. When they played the tape you could here clicks where they had altered the tape and cut out where I said I didn't order anything and wasn't going to pay the bill. I told them it was altered and I wasn't going to pay the bill. Then I promptly hung up.

- MGL| 1 replyGot a call today from "Mr. Phillips" representing RDR Collections Debt. He stated that a previous employee made a purchase that is delinquent and the final collection is today. Stated that the bill is for $785 but was originally $945....These people are not legitimate.

- Kyle replies to David| 1 replyGot the same call today. I have reported it to Attorney Generals Office and Federal Trade Commission. Can't find info on this so called company.
- Kimo replies to MGLGot 4 calls in the past 2 days from David representing RDR Collections Debt claiming we owe $880 and would soon be sent to collection but if I wait that long the bill wil be higher. He was very rude and I asked for his supervisor which he claimed he did not have. Call came from 305-851-6494.
- lcOur office received a call from David Sullivan with this RDR place - He mentioned something about National Trans Union credit I think? Made it sound like that was who he actually worked for - wanting to make sure our credit wasn't hurt by this bill of over $800, and it had to be done in the next 7 days. But darn, my boss is out of town until next week..he sounded so concerned, awww..this wouldn't get taken care of in time and it would affect our credit.
He played back a recording where it seems I agreed to stuff (mostly the mailing of a bill, but I don't think I agreed to actually pay it - and of course they don't specifically say that), but of course I don't even remember the phone call. Not sure if the recording was doctored or not.
This David guy was explaining different things to me like I was an idiot - the wording in the phone call, and we have to watch out and be careful about that - duh - I don't buy things from people that call me!, and a couple I did not, so that part was ok...should have recorded his call!
He wasn't really rude, didn't think to ask him some of the questions listed above. There were other things he said, but I told him my boss probably would not be inclined to pay this. Then he asked if paying this "would put your company in the red?" I told him I didn't know, that wasn't my department. We didn't know who they were, they never called us again and now they're trying to collect without even a courtesy call..shame on them. .
Anyway, after reading all the posts on this site and a few others, I am glad that I followed my instinct and I didn't agree to anything!- Caller: RDR Collections (i think)

- LisaReceived two phone calls from this number on two separate days. Asked for me and my business name had a very strong southern drawl. Didn't mention a company name or any invoices just kept asking for me and my company name and saying they could not here us...
- Caller: no name
- JasonI just got off the phone with David Sulivan for the same thing. He said the recording was not doctored but I would not have agreed to the bill. I could clearly tell it was doctored even though and could not be doctored but it was and yes they can be. I am not going to pay the bill for $829. It is obviously a scam. I remember the call and the person I talked to asked me some questions to help them fill in the blanks for the voice recorder.

- LaClaiming to be collecting payment for NBA corporation - National Business Advertising. Complete scam! Beware!
- JoeI received a deceptive call from NBA selling advertising. The pitch was that I would receive a bill but would not have to pay because I could cancel. I believe there was going to be an online listing of my business. They recorded a portion of the call but not all of it, conveniently leaving out the part about not having to pay. 30 days later I received a phone call from 305-851-6494 stating that my account was past due and in collections. They refused to email me OR mail me an invoice. They would only fax me the invoice. I was offered a 'discount' from the $829 to $500 if I paid immediately. I told them I wasn't going to pay it and they said they were going to hand over my case to "the bailiff" and that they would garner my assets. They told me they were going to call me back while I obtained a fax number. I don't use faxes.
NOTE: I visited http://www.nationalbizads.com/ and tried to search for my business and their search function did not work at all. They want $500 or $829 for nothing!- Caller: National Business Advertising

- slwjawThese losers called us to day trying to collect money for a bogus bill. We do not advertise, never have and never will. I am in the process of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, MN Attorney General and FTC. Really pisses me off when they waste my time when I am helping customers. My company is on the national do not call list and if these morons would check the list, they would find it.

- Dana GibsonJason Peterson (collector) has been harassing our office with calls for the past two days (4 calls) and threatening our company with collections. I filed with CT Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission.
We received a phone call from 305-851-6494 stating that our account was past due and in collections. I informed him that we are not paying the invoice because he is a scam and I was instructed on what to say a few months ago leading NBA to invoice our company. He asked "how do you think this is a scam?" I laughed and continued to tell him that I have filed against this "company". "Jason" tried to talk over me but I continued to talk and would not let him get a word in edge wise. He continued to say "let me talk". I replied back to him "No, you wouldn't let me talk months ago - how do you like it?". He proceed to yell and threaten that Kathy will be calling us. I told him to have "Kathy" call me - we are still not paying so VOID this invoice. He hung up on me.- Caller: National Business Advertising

- MiniStorThis fraudulent company calls every single time I hire a new employee. I do not know how they get the names of new people I hire. They ask for the employee by name, and then ask them if its ok to send them an invoice. Usually, since it is a new person, they just say "yes" thinking someone will just mail an invoice for some service we used and I'll pay the bill. They will ask questions pretty much until you say "Yes." Later on we get an exorbitant invoice for near $1000 for a Yellow Pages Ad online. Of course there is no ad, there were never any services rendered. So then I call them and ask what it is about and they play a recording of my employee saying the word "Yes" to a variety of pre-recorded fake questions such as "are you the one in charge of advertising?" "do you accept the charges on this invoice and agree to pay"
Today someone called asking for my most recent hire saying she had left them a message. I advised I was the owner, and could help in any way. They didn't say who they were and I found it suspicious when they refused to allow me to help them. They said they thought she was the manager, not me. But then said they were not a customer of ours anyway, so I thought it even more suspicious. They said they would call back since my new employee had left them a message and they didn't know what it was about. Once they hung up, I googled the number and it was these people.
They know I won't fall for their tricks. Even though I go over this with EVERY person I hire on day one, these people still try and sometimes they do manage to get someone to say the word "Yes"- Caller: National Business Advertising
