text message on my cel from this # advertising diet pills?!?

I generally don't text and if i have to start paying for junk texts that'll just suck!

I just got a text message advertising diet pills also.  It cost me $0.15.  Granted that is not a lot of money, but why should I pay for someone to send me unwanted advertisements?

I just called AT&T (my carrier).  They told me the number is an AT&T customer.  Other than that they basically told me to jump in a lake and they could care less what the other customer was doing as long as they paid their bill.

Just received the same text a few minutes ago. Traces to a cell phone in Miami, FL. Didn't feel like paying the $39.95 extortion fee to find out the person's name but if anyone has a way to trace it I'd love to know about it. Never got a text like this before and it should be illegal.

Received a text message from this number at 12:30AM!  It woke me up! These telemarketing companies are really getting out of control and my number is on the do not call list.

I also received this same text about "as seen on MTV, brazilian diet pills..." I belive this is illegal to send unwanted spam text.

Text Message:  "DR. approved Brazilian Health Products.  Reply DIET back to this message for details.

I also got a text message from this # on May 5 @ 9:27am EST.

"As seen on MTV, try it FREE our RD. approved
European Health Products. Reply DIET back to
this message for details."

I have an Atlanta cell.  Totally unacceptable.

rec'd also. i agree with all that is already mentioned. these type of ads should be illegal.

I got this message too. I've never gotten junk texts before and I'm very very careful about giving my number out to anyone. The first junk text I got (this was my third before finally googling the number) was RIGHT after visiting family in IL (I live in AZ) and calling the 1-800-free411 there. Here it has always worked fine and never cause trouble. The messages there were a little different and after I hung up I got the first message. I wonder if it could be tied since the free 411 works by advertising to you. Maybe there they consider your call to be an "ok" to put you on a junk text messaging list?

I have filed a complaint with the FTC https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx.

If we all did this it might prompt some action by the FTC to close the loophole concerning spam text messages.

My cell phone is on the FTC's do not call list.

In addition to filing a complaint with the FTC I also contacted ATT's wireless customer service. At first the person I spoke to tried to act like I knew the person I got this text msg (above) from. Then when she understood tried to act like she couldn't do anything. So I let her know that I had filed a complaint with the FTC and that if they did not do anything about this I would let the FTC know that I contacted ATT and they did nothing. She then after documenting everything gave me to a supervisor, who stated ATT is aware of the problem - Telemarketers are using text messaging to get around the do not call law.

The supervisor stated - do not reply to message you will end up getting subscribed to a service that will cost you $19.95 a month.

He stated to send a new text msg which I did saying, "Stop all msgs", and I also included, "you have been reported to FTC and ATT." He then credited me the $.15 for the message I received and $.15 for the new message he instructed me to send.

Therefore when you call a rep at ATT and you do not get any results, ask to speak to a supervisor since ATT is aware of this problem.

It was a text talking about diet pills. This is not the first time I have received something from this number.

I got a call from these guys a few minutes ago @ 8:53:31pm Pacific.Who are these guys...this is not cool!

I just got one too after calling 1-800-free411 for the first time!  That is crap!  I'm definitely not going to stand for this.
