Just received a phone call from a Melissa Cunningham  from a Affidavit Processing Unit in Miami CL stating that there was a legal affidavit that they tried to deliver but the papers were rejected.  Did not call her back cause something doesn't seem right.  Who calls before they deliver papers and no one showed up at my address to deliver anything.  Sounds like a scam!

Did you get any info out of her or did you just get the same message I did?  when I put the phone number in Whitepages.com, it came up as someone's apartment....

Just got a call too from Ms Cunningham. No name of the county or state (Although it comes up as Miami Florida) saying they tried to serve me at my address associated with my phone number. They didn't mention my name or anything. I have been getting calls like this so much this year. They all seem to be scams really.

I received a call from this number about an hour ago, I didn't answer it and she left a voicemail. This lady said her name was Karen Rodgers and she was calling from the Financial Crime Division. It is a scam, I have received these calls before. In fact about a month ago several people were arrested in Georgia for this exact same thing. They try to use a lot of legal sounding terms and scare tactics to get you to send them money. They often threaten you with arrest if you don't pay whatever it is they say you owe by that day. Any legitimate company or division would have sent paperwork to you first and also would have a phone number that didn't just pop up in the last few days. If you have any doubt, call your local Sheriff's Office but whatever you do, don't give these people any money!

I just called the number back, and a women said her name was Renee Buckman, I asked who she worked for and she stated the "Legal Mediation Department", I asked what company that was a part of and she answered JL Associates, I asked her for the address of her company and she said "have a nice day" and hung up on me. Total scam! She did have my name and last 4 of my SSN which she kept trying to get me to confirm and I ignored her.

When I searched this is the only JL Assoc. in Miami Fl, and its an insurance company.

I got the same call and spoke with an investigator Conner. He threatened me with jail time and said I had two felony counts against me. He wanted me to pay a certain amount by noon or it would go to docket today. He wouldn't give me any information about who they were trying to collect this money for. He did say he was from John Lopez and Associates and his extension was 317. I will be reporting this information to the authorities in Miami and my local authorities.

I just sent an email to the Miami States Attorney and reported it.

Just got a call from this # from a Karen Rogers, stating I was involved in an active financial criminal investigation.

". . .ACTIVE FINANCIAL CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION. . . " > Sounds like a GREAT title for a new show on FOX. Too bad they don't make it a reality show about scams & foreign crooks that do these things. Make great viewing.

she had paperwork for me but it was rejected.  Any real lawfirm would find out your current address if they wanted to serve you papers.  I smell a big SCAM

I've gotten some calls too. In the 1st place if there is money owed the company themselves would send a letter stating all the info. You have usually 30 days to respond.  I would not send any money anywhere until I knew the collection agency was legit. Too much scams going on...it's the holiday season & people are making ways to make money, unfortunately.

I got the same  msg this morning.  Yesterday it was Mr Lasater and my file was being downloaded then.  After looking around, they are trying to collect on a payday loan I never had.
