just received a call from this number n he claimed to be Officer Jack Austin with the Federal Crime bureau..He had some of my info n said if I dont settle he would be at my house tomorrow morning to arrest me for fraud...

The caller attempted to call my cell phone three times.  He finally left a voicemail, which I have saved in case it is necessary.  He said he was from the Investigation Department (of what, not disclosed), that he was Officer Russell Smith.  He was warning me to call him back before I was arrested at either my place of employment or my home.  The case against me could not be disclosed on his voicemail, but it is very serious.  The caller did use my name in the message.  He and caller ID left only the Florida number of 305-964-8078, not a name or business name.

I know I have done nothing wrong and this is a scam.  Is there some way to make this idiot stop or maybe even arrested for playing as an officer of the US govt. (whether federal or state)?  I will never answer his phone calls, and I hope he will be stopped/caught soon.

Perhaps you can tell that area's police officers or the FBI about this phone number.

This man called my phone, my mothers phone, and also my fathers phone. He left the same voicemail on each phone saying he was from the investigations dept. and that i was going to be in serious trouble if I didn't call him back. I called back and left a voicemail for him saying that I was turning this into the police because it was not the first call I received from this man. i also told him that he does not need to call my phone or anyone else's phone because people all over know that it is a scam.

My boyfriend is having the same problem. they are claiming that they deposit money on his account of a lone that he asked for. My boyfriend claim he never received any money from any type of loan. they keep calling and saing they are going to arrest him. is there any place online we can report this.

i got this call today and man this man is rude and tells me the same thing i do wish there is a way to stop him cause this gets me ticked off is there nothing we can do to protect us or put a stop to this

I got a call (voicemail) from this man today saying his name was Officer Allen Taylor and that I must call him immediately regarding a legal matter of urgence.  He threatened to have me arrested and said that if I did not call him back immediately I would need a lawyer.  Very intimidating type of voice, but I see from all these posts that it must be a scam.  Is there anything that can be done?

Consumer Alert: Attorney General warns Kansans of debt collection scam

January 29, 2010 -- Attorney General Steve Six is cautioning Kansas consumers about telephone calls from apparent fake debt collectors who are impersonating law enforcement officers in an effort to extort money from consumers.   Consumers are warned to not submit payments to these fraudulent debt collectors.

When calling, the scammers most often state they are attempting to collect a debt related to an internet payday loan obtained by the consumer, but which the consumer never repaid.  Consumers state they have never obtained such a loan or paid off the loan years ago.  The scam artists have most recently identified themselves as ACS, National Affidavit Processing Department and United Financial Crime Division, but may use additional phony names.  It appears the phone numbers used by the scammers are “spoofed” numbers, so that the number appearing on a consumer’s caller ID is not the actual number of where the call originated. It appears the calls in question may be originating from outside the United States.

When questioned, the individual calling refuses to disclose the full name or address of the collection agency they claim to represent.  These scammers have been able to provide consumers with identifying information, such as the consumer’s social security number, home address, e-mail address, names of family members and the consumer’s computer IP address.  Since the callers are able to provide valid personal information, consumers may become confused and believe they are being contacted in regard to a legitimate debt.

If the initial debt collection scam is unsuccessful, consumers have been re-contacted months later with the scammers posing as law enforcement officers or officers of the court.  Typically, the consumer is threatened with arrest for fraud or some other fictitious crime unless the consumer agrees to immediately wire money via Western Union.  The fictitious officers strive to frighten and confuse consumers into compliance by using legal sounding terms such as “We’re filing an affidavit against you” or by stating a lawsuit has been or is in the process of being filed against the consumer.

A hallmark of each scam has been calling consumers repeatedly at their place of employment.  This scam hit home when an employee of the Kansas Attorney General’s Office was repeatedly called both on her cell phone and at work.  Despite the employee’s repeated verbal disputes, the caller refused to provide any identifying information to allow her to send a written dispute. The scammer also continued to call her numerous times a day regarding a payday loan she denied obtaining. Two months later, she was again contacted by telephone by an individual identifying himself as an “officer”.

“I denied owing the debt and refused to pay without being provided validation of the debt. I was then told, ‘If that’s the case, I will have local law enforcement come to your place of business and drag you out kicking and screaming’,” stated the employee.

“It is important for consumers to know their rights under the law,” Attorney General Six said. “If a consumer is receiving calls from a debt collection company and believe it is a scam, I encourage them to contact our office immediately.”

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), collectors are required to send consumers a written notice within five days of the initial contact.  The notification should contain  information such as the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed and a statement informing the consumer they have thirty days to contact the debtor in writing to dispute the debt or request validation of the debt. In addition, legitimate debt collectors are prohibited by the FDCPA from making false or misleading representations, such as the consumer has committed a crime, implying nonpayment will result in the consumer’s arrest, or using the threat of violence.

I recieved a call today from this same number (305) 964-8078 and the person gave the name of Allen Taylor and further stated that he was FBI Agent from Miami Florida. He threatened to have me arrested within 1 hour with a sentence in prison for 2 to 3 years. This person has called my job being very rude with my boss continuing to make threats about having his employees arrested if he is not contacted in a certain amount of time. This person has all my information and I have no idea how he obtained this information. I notified the FBI of Miami Florida about this person and they assured me that they do not have a officer by that name. Please be aware this is a scam and please report it immediately

I just received the same call from officer Jack, threating to take me jail if I did not pay 700.00 for a cash loan that was deposit into my account, he even knew my bank, that scares me

I was also contacted twice now with this person calling. He sounds foreign said he was Officer Taylor and his message sounded suspicous. He wanted me to contact him right away and could not leave me a message as to what it was about, although said I should get a lawyer or other legal council. I went to my local police station and played the message for them and they told me that it sounds like a nigerian scam. He does not say Police officer in his messages, just officer. Also probably would ask that we send money via wire. DO NOT DO THIS! Do not call this person back, he's fraud. The # comes up Florida, but my Police Officer thinks he's not even in the US. A newer scam is that these foreigners are calling up people to say their family member needs help send money via wire quickly. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. Hope this helps some.

omg i just got two calls from officer alan taylor i called back because i knew i didnt do anything either he told me to call back in 30 minutes i was like why if you are who you are you got me on the phone now so tell me whats up!! he hung up

Some guy just called my mom and scared her half to death.  He knew her name and phone number.  He told her not to interrupt him until he was finished.  He said that he obtained her information from the internet on a loan that she had not paid off yet, and that if she did not cooperate she was going to be arrested.  She was very upset, and she told him that she wasn't going to give him any information and that if someone was going to come arrest her, then, she would deal with it then.  I googled the phone number that appeared on her called id, and I found this.  I wish someone could do something about these people.  My mother said he did speak with a heavy accent, but she was not sure which.  I told her that in the future not to answer any call if she did not recognize the name or number and that if it was important they could leave her a message on her answering machine.
