    I am not sure why they keep calling me from this number.  It is very annoying because I am usually on the phone,
    as this is my office, and when I call back I get an answering machine.  If this is legitimate, fine.  But if not,
    I would like someone to tell them to stop calling.  My telling them hasn't worked.

    When you buy a lot of stuff at Staples and use your rewards card, they assign a customer service rep to you. They always "want to go over" something. Annoying but they are only trying to keep you buying at Staples. Harmless.

    So frustrating. This woman keeps calling every month or so and I don't even really have an account.  The woman who called said her name was Shiny... and she was my personal account manager for Staples.  I rarely shop at Staples - I made a large purchase a few years ago when I was initially setting up my home office (desk, chair, etc) but I don't have many office supply needs.  I think I signed up for rewards at the time, but I've never received any Rewards information or benefits, and had since forgotten about the program.  She seemed perplexed because there was activity on my Staples Rewards account, $12 here, $30 there, etc.  That certainly wasn't me - I don't know the last time I shopped at Staples. I gave her updated information (no credit card, just email and home addresses) and she said the Rewards checks would come to me now, but I have just found this very confusing and thought I should report it.  The contact info she gave me was Shiny Varghese, 866-319-8181 extension 7654, but she called me from 306-584-6705.  Today I called Staples directly to remove whatever account information they have for me or figure out who ended up with my rewards card.. but they said my telephone number wasn't anywhere in their system -- they gave me another number to try for a different department, but that just took me to an operator who rerouted to the original customer service number.

    Hi Plain Jane.. did this work for you?? I have a different person, not Brenda, but keep getting calls from the 306-584-6705 number (her name apparently Shiny, her reply number 866-319-8181 ext. 7654).  As we've spoken, I've requested several times to be removed from their system with no luck, and have written to Staples customer service (online contact forms, online live chat, and by a few different phone numbers), and I am still getting the calls.  Have you had any luck? or have they called back, since your post made last August?

    PS, even weirder, I'm not even in Canada, I'm in the US, in New Jersey.  So frustrating.

    If you get a call from us, at this number, you (or the person who was PREVIOUSLY in your position at work) has signed up for one of our Customer Rewards programs, with a Rewards card. You may receive a call from Regina, Saskatchewan, Laval, PQ (if you are in Quebec), Halifax, NS (in Canada) or Maitland, FL (in the US). We like to give additional complimentary benefits and savings to our top customers. If you do not want these benefits (we are not telemarketers, because we are not trying to sell you something and honestly, you already shop with us, only to learn about you and your business so that Staples can better provide for your needs in our retail and online locations).

    That said, if you call the 306-584 number you are 1) paying long distance and 2) will be unable to reach anyone. Use the 1-866 number, and if you want to a) Decline the program or b) be removed from the program - make sure you speak personally (based on the NAME on the account) to the person calling you. If you are the Office Manager or the Secretary on the account, we cannot remove the account based on your information - we need to speak to the account holder. If we don't get put through to them, we keep calling.

    Its quite simple. The person who signed up for Staples.com or for a Staples Rewards program, even if you are the one using the card is the only one authorized to approve or deny the programs that we offer to our best customers. These calls, and what follow, are a reward from us to you.

    I remove every customer I have who requests removal - you know what fills my voicemail? People calling me demanding that I continue to send them the benefits of being my customer without having to talk to me a few times a year. The expectations of the program are set out when you sign up. Speaking to someone from Staples a few times a year. At most I speak to a customer 6 times in a single calendar year. Most customers I call quarterly or semi-annually.

    Still, after I remove a customer and they find out they didn't get an email telling them about special savings they call me and give me what you suggest. Even more, the second they have a problem, either in store or online, they call me expecting me to fix the problem.

    I fix problems for customers who are actively part of the program, and if they really want the problem fixed, I explain in great detail, that by doing so they agree to my calls. Its simple really.

    Actually we have a location in Florida as well as New Orleans. Where the person is who calls you is random.
