Annoyed
9 Sep 2007
I HATE these calls. I have been getting them from all sorts of numbers lately. If I find out who they are there will be h*** to pay.
This number called, and hung up on my voicemail. I'm in Calgary, AB. "They" called at 3:02pm, and I called abck at 3:12 pm. I called it back because I have family and friends in Saskatchewan, and got a "this number is no longer in service" message. What the heck?
Unfortunatly I've been getting lots of mysterious calls lately, it's driving me crazy!
Get one or two calls per day in Ottawa. I called Bell and they say that they can not say who owns the number. I have had my number for only a month now and I asked why they give out my number to tele-terrorists. Bell said they did not give it out. Hmmm... well I have told nobody (not even my gf) this number as I only use my cell phone these days but I am curious how they got the number... of course Ma Bell is nothing but honest and forthright with her customers isn't she... yeah right.
I've been getting a couple of calls a day from this number with no one on the line, and usually after 9 p.m. The odd thing is, I live in Saskatoon, and yet, the phone gives off a "long distance" ring when the call comes in. Calling the number back also produces a "This number is not in service" message, and a search of SaskTel's reverse directory (www.mysask.com) says the number isn't listed. If it is a survey company, they obviously need a thorough review of their telephone technology.
I've had a call from this number every few days, one last Sunday 2:32pm and the latest today 7:46pm. This has been going on for weeks so went online and found I'm not the only one. I'm considering getting an unlisted number as I'm so fed up with the constant calls from these tele-terrorists (thanks Ron, for such an apt phrase). I now no longer answer long distance rings, there are so many and feel they can leave a message on my voice-mail or will eventually give up.
I've had several calls from this number also. Recently was yesterday and today at the supper hour. I live in Alberta and this really gets annoying. I don't answer the phone when this number comes up. If the number is not in service, then how can the person making the calls get away with this????? They are either deranged or very bored with life!!
Answered the phone, a female asked two survey questions. (Did not say what company) #1 question how many people live in your house over 19? #2 may we speak to the person who has a birthday next in your house? I replied not available. They hung up ..strange call.
Let's all pool our money together and pay one us to drive to Saskatoon or wherever the hell it's coming from and beat the piss out of them. When they @$$hole asks "why'd you beat the piss out of me?" Say: I'd like to do a survey...after getting your a** kicked, have you learned anything?
Rinse, Repeat.
Or maybe we should push for tougher legislation against this. It's not like a door-to-door marketer. They are forced to interact with you face-to-face. These guys don't have to get off their lazy a**es to harass people who have NEVER asked for this. Selfish ignorant pricks that do tele-"marketing" (and I use the term exceptionally loosely) make me happy I believe in hell.
I have been getting calls from this number and did not know who it is and it is all hours of the night. I am really getting tired of it and want it to stop.
this number has been calling my house at around 4:30-5:00 p.m.ish (halifax, ns time) for a while now - and i get the same thing, no ones there when i answer, so i cant even put my name on a do not call list, and when i call the number, its disconnected ...yea...hows this legal? even if it is telemarketing, they cant call from a disconnected number - err supposedly disconnected. Too bad phone companys suck.
same here -- i called back -- disconnected-- a phone call from a dissconnected number sounds pretty fishy -- marked the number for trace -- not sure what sasktel does at this point other than to make me think they are doing something
OK, this is so annoying, i have a call block feature that i pay for with my local phone service...tried to enter this phone number into the call block feature - told me that the feature wasnt available for this number...WTF???
Here's what Andy Rooney suggests doing: Three Little Words That Work!: 1)The three little words are: "Hold On, Please..." Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming, that boiler room sales would grind to a halt. Then when you eventually hear the phone company's "beep-beep-beep" tone, you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task. These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting.
2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end? This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone. This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a "real" sales person to call back and get someone at home. What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialed the call and it kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer !!!
Call is from a telepoll company. They started out with general questions but quickly zeroed in on cigarettes. Very repetative and I finally had to say bye after more than 10 mins.
