I got an email and he give me this number, his name is  david. On the email said that he works for USMC, the 10th PSYOP Bt. And something about CADDY 96TH squadron at wyoming too.

This is a scam artist who has listings for cars for sale on Craigslist in different cities and states. The exact same VW Bug was posted in Charleston, SC Hilton Head, Sc and Wilmington, NC on the same day (at least change photo!) When I was it I knew it was a scam so I replied to all from different email addresses. He responded to 2 of them and said his name was Jeffrey Thomas, he was stationed in Athens Greece, being deployed to Afghanistan and the car was already crated & ready to be shipped at he base in Ft. Lewis, Wa. In the other email I was given the name Sgt. Stacey Copley, who didn't say where she was at, but also said she was going to Afghanistan.(why are they posting on the east coast if the cars are so far away?-shouldn't that raise a red flag?) He/She uses different names, but each time the scam is the same. You will not be allowed to see the car and they tell you they are in the US Military being deployed to Afghanistan and the military will pay for the car to be shipped to you free. The only payment option is Google checkout and they send you an official looking email that appears it from Google checkout telling you to wire transfer the money to them and Google check out will hold the money in their account until you receive the car, inspect it and notify them that that car is as described (anywhere from 3-7 days depending on which email you receive from them) and only then will they forward the payment to the seller. This is not true- Once you make a payment Google Checkout does not hold your payment until any item is received! Just verified what I already figured.

I just responded to an add I saw on Craids list stating the same thing as logan posted. Jefferey Thomas was attempting to see a 2003 VW bug for 2600.00. He stated that he was in the process of deploying to Afganistan. He used this number as a referance.

"Sgt. Stacy L. Copley" tried to sell me a 2002 ford f150 with low miles for a really good price. When I showd interest i got an overly detailed response. She talked about google will handle everything and she is in a rush to sell because she is getting deployed. If the offer sounds too good to be true it probably is. And never be in a rush to buy something like that.

DO NOT fall for this SCAM! This guy is truly a professional, this piece of trash does this for a living i bet. I gave him my information and got the information from Google...it seemed legit. He told me the car would be here in 3-5 business days. He showed me detailed carfax reports, and he sounded like a legit seller. He tried to sell me the EXACT same story as tens of other people on here, he was a USMC soldier, stationed in Athens, Greece, but he communicated with this Wyoming number. I decided i will buy the car, and i went to the bank with the cash and the account information, ready to transfer my hard earned dollars to this piece of trash. Before i deposited the money into my account, to be wired, i spoke to the manager about this, and she Googled the email address from which i got the information of the account, and guess what came up: all these stories of people that were told this story, hundreds of people! And now i saw that GOOGLE DOES NOT MAKE WIRE TRANSFERS ON THE LEGIT GOOGLE CHECKOUT SERVICE, THEY ONLY ACCEPT DEBIT OR CREDIT! I was just about to wire the money when i said "this is too good to be true." The government should not let people like this get away with what they are doing. If they can find suspected terrorists, they can find these kind of fools! JEFFREY THOMSON is the name he used, jeff.thomson39@gmail.com is the email. I nearly fell into this trap, NEVER trust anything on craigslist or anywhere on the internet! And please, take a few minutes, and report this person to the police. Give them all the stuff he sent to you. Oh i would love to see this person rot in jail, who knows how many people that were experiencing financial difficulties and were fooled by a cheap chance to buy something he scammed.

Wow am I glad I put this telephone number into google search!!!
My son was shopping for a boat and came across an amazing deal on Kijiji.  He fell in love with the boat and was all excited about it.  The seller stated he had no use for the boat so he was selling it cheap.  He said he was in the military and soon being deployed to Afghanistan.  The boat was in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan Canada....but it was on a military base so we wouldn't be able to go look at it.  He used the google checkout plan as well.  Sending my son an email  that appeared to come from the Google Checkout Financial Department with bank information for a bank in Greece to wire the money to.  There were quite a few red flags but my son kept insisting that I was just being paranoid.  I too looked up google checkout and discovered that they do not deal with wire transfers only credit and debit cards.  My son is very disappointed in the lack of integrity of some people out there but my $3000.00 is still safely in my bank account.

Glad to see all of you avoided this scam, my family was shocked when i told them about this, you have no idea how hard we have work for our money, and i hope this dishonest person does not enjoy a penny of it and suffers the consequences to the maximum! And this is just ridiculous, does the police not pay attention to these complaints against this number? Why can't they just find him and drag him away in cuffs. I now remember that i had, long ago, run into a similar thing, but i did not suspect anything. It was a woman whose daughter was at the hospital and could not come in person, and was selling a Corolla for really low. After i said "i live close to the place, i could just come over, take a look at it, and then leave the money to the people there if i want to buy it", she never replied. I am glad i ran into this, so i know to look out for these low-lifes in the future.

I've bought my new car from Jeff Thomson. I met with him in Fort Lewis and deal was done. I have no idea what you people are talking about here. Stop posting fake details about people that you don't know !

Jeffrey Thomas is still at it...and still "selling" the 2003 Navy Beetle.  I am so thankful for websites like this that just confirmed my suspicions when I was instructed to wire money to Greece via Western Union.

Well, this Jeffrey Thomas is very busy.  He's selling a Bernina sewing machnie for less than half price.  It sounded fishy so I starting searching around and here I am.

He is also seeking a 2009 grizzly 4 wheeler for $1850. He claims he's being deployed to afganistan on the 12 and is in a hurry to sell it. He says it's on a military base in Fort Lewis Washington, same number and descriptions.. Glad I googled him! You know what they say if it sounds too good to be true... It probably is!! How can we turn him into the proper authorities ?

Please take a few moments and read my email carefully, I know it is long, but I will explain all the details about the atv and the transaction.

Unfortunately I fell for this scam oct 10th. Said the same thing he's told everyone. I wasn't thinking clearly enough obviously bc I never googled this man up. I've gone to police so maybe some sort of justice will brought upon this horrible person. Also, his number is changed. There's no way of contacting him and as far as I'm concerned, he'll pay for it one day. One day.
