Carpet cleaning telemarketer fined $10,000 for violating DNC list

BOISE, Idaho -- A telephone solicitor who called Nampa residents offering carpet cleaning services has paid a $10,000 fine for violating the Do Not Call registry.

The Idaho Attorney General's office says Authorized Cleaning Services used an autodialer to market its services. The AG's office got more than 75 complaints from people who were called despite being on the no call list. Some were called several times a day.

John Belcastro, who operated the company, agreed to pay the fine and stop soliciting Idaho residents as part of a settlement with the Idaho Attorney General's office.

Carpeting Cleaning people who are illegally calling people on the national "do not call" list - if you are on the list, and you should be, please report immediately to DNC - although by the time they get the required number of complaints, the operation will have changed their number. btw, 308 area code is Ericson, Nebraska.

I just got the taped message from "Diane" offering carpet cleaning services.  The call was disconnected once I press the "1" prompt to schewdul appt.

Left message on machine. "Diane" selling carpet cleaning, no company name, "press 1
to talk".  We're on the DoNotCall lists (state and fed).

Exact same MO as calls from "Kevin" for carpet cleaning in the past.  The caller ID is
technically falsified - hence "out of service" because the victim had to change his/her
number.

Previous numbers faked by "Kevin" included 4014845598 and 5087687885.

i received a call form them today and when i answered no one there.....

I got this call during dinner time. Of course I don't answer for unidentified callers. It sounds almost exactly like the calls I got from "Kevin" every once in a while for the past couple of years.

The previous calls came from either the suburbs of Boston (781) or suppressed their number, though they didn't sound like Bostonians.

@LAURA G: $10,000 fine? That's just a minor cost of doing business. Well, at least Idaho's AG did something. The MA AG does not enforce consumer laws at all. I sent her a letter about a scam, and she wrote back to just be careful. She wouldn't even put a warning on the state web site.

Seize ALL of their assets and give them 5 years in prison.

Call from a company pushing heater duct cleaning.
Told them I have been on the do-not-call list since the beginning and am on the permanent DNC list. Also told the person who answered that I have never done business with this company and they should respect the DNC list.

keep getting automated calls for carpet cleaning from this number  pressed 1 to make an appointment  the guy hung up on me when I asked a question.   beware scam!

i got a call from this number,today.....i see it on the caller id and call it back.  it says that it is "out of service"....wtf?......this sounds like a scam.....

Had a call from "diane" wanting to clean my carpets: two rooms and a hallway for $49.95. Hey, pretty good price, so I dialed 1. Answered by an actual human being: "XX carpet cleaners" I asked, "Is this Diane?" Answer: "Yes" Me: I'd like to get my carpets cleaned  Diane: <click>

This guy called me today. No message left.

I received 3 strange calls in a row. Different numbers and no one left message. I put myself on the Do Not Call list.

Got a call from Ericson, NE  (308)201-5426. When I dialed 1 to talk to an operator; and let them know that I am in a Do Not Call Registry, she hung up on me. When I dialed the number it is not in service.
Very annoying.

I didn't pick up — but googled the number and found out it is indeed a sales call.  I AM on the DNC list.  Please prosecute and fine!!!!
