a call from "Unknown"

Woman presented herself as a repesentative for the DREAMS COME TRUE SWEEPSTAKES ORG. She stated she had my address and wanted to konw if I wanted to participate in the sweepstakes that my bank or credit card had reported as being in good standings.  It felt to me like a scam since my banking institution had not informed me of such sweepstake.

same phone number called me yesterday then said they had the wrong number. today i received a phone call from 310-241-2969 basically stating the same thing pam wrote up here. what's the deal with this anyways? the weird thing was that they did know my address, does anyone know what's going on??

They called 4 times on the same day on my cell phone. (I"ve never received solicitation calls on my cell phone, of which the phone number has only been given to close friends, family, and those who need it.)  They never answered.  However, the fourth time they said it was "publishers," and I told them to remove my number from their mailing list, and they said okay.

My wife answered the phone, and hung up on the gentleman on the end of the line.  He called back and I answered - I asked him to put us on his do not call list, and he started harassing me.  I asked him SEVERAL times for his name and company, but, he refused to give it to me.  I again asked him to put us on his DNC, and hung up.  HE CALLED BACK, and started yelling at me and calling me names, and hung up.  Since we don't have caller ID, I called *69 - got this number, and called him (not a great idea, I know, but, I just couldn't let it go).  The same guy answered, and told ME to stop harassing him, and that I was the one causing the problem.  He made some derragatory remarks about my wife (trying to get a rise out of me) and I asked for a supervisor, and he went on with some racist remarks, calling me names and all the while refusing to give me his name, or company name.  The main reason I even pursued it was he had my wifes name and our address.

This guy called me last Friday saying the same stuff I was entered into a sweepstakes etc. he wanted to verify my address which he told to me correct and then proceded to sell me magazines I told him I wasn't interested and he continued to talk so I hung up he called me back and asked if we were disconnected I told him no I hung up because I am not interested and he hung up on me. I wouldn't say 5min later I received another phone call from a 310 area code and this man started harassing me saying that he knew who I was etc. He called me 5times Friday, then again on sat,sun and Monday I was on a delivery I deliver pizzas at night so I was on a delivery and the house I went to said they didn't order a pizza right when I was getting into my car I received a text saying they could see me and he loved looking at my pretty face I was completly freaked out I called the police department and filed a report I didn't receive any calls or text untill this morning the guy did it again said something relavant to my day I called the police department again and then I called this guy and let him have it on his Voice mail I told him everytime he calls me, text me I am sending it to the police department so if he is here where I am or really in Los Angeles I am going to press charges and if he is here where I am I am going to get him on a lot more than just harasment. Later today my husband called him because he kept calling me and this guy said he was scared that the police department had called him and he didn't mean to take it this far he just got my number from his friend that works for a telemarketing company and his friend wanted him to call me because supposidly I had some pills he wanted to buy. I looked up the telemarketing number on google and I got this so I looked up the number on a reverse look up and I got the name the phone number is under which is Carmen Vidal at 704 S Pacific Ave in San Pedro, Ca 90731
I called San Pedro police department they said they couldn't do anything because I didn't live in that county so what I would recomend anyone who is receiveing these phone calls is to file with your county police department and then call San Pedro Police department 310-548-7721 and let them know what is going on so they take this more serious these people have our addresses our phone numbers lets try to protect ourselves. Look up Telephone Harassment Bureau and file a complaint with them as well

I just received a call from this number on my cell phone.  They hung up as soon as I answered.  I googled the number to see who/what it was and found this thread.

My story is exactly that of Stormy above. I didn't recognize the phone number either and when I answered, the caller hung up.

Will call 5 fives in a row to my private cell phone.

Got a call from a guy that asked to talk to my wife, I told him that I am her husband and he hung up. I tried to return call but phone stayed busy. So far no other calls today but I will stay tuned.

Received a call, answered my phone, guys says, "hello (my name), I say "yes", he hangs up.

This guy called my parents house in Chicago and told them that I had an appointment with Katlin in Boulder and I was 30 minutes late to it. Then he gave my parents some bogus number to call them back on.  My parents have caller id and gave me this number. I called him back and started yelling at this guy and he started to making some buzzing noise and tell me I we had a bad connection. I just started calling him over and over to give him a taste of his own medicine and he stopped answering. What is weird is that I live in Denver but I put everything under my parents home number so I don't get these kinds of calls.  He obviously knew where I lived since he said I had an appointment in Boulder. Very strange.  He called my parents two separate days and always would call numerous times in a row.

I received a phone call from this number twice now. Never left a voicemail. Called the number back a few days ago and no one answered.

I got a call at lunchtime, midweek, from this number asking for my wife. When I said she was out and offered to take a message he said (in a very strong Southern drawl) that he was Paul from Two Peas in a Pod in Little Rock and she needed to return his call. Neither of us have heard of them and we can find no such business. We do live in Little Rock though, but our phone number is non-geographic as we have Vonage so I'm wondering how he knew...

I received a call saing I was entered into a sweepstakes. They had my name, address, and last 4 digits of my credit card. I called my bank after receiving this call to make sure that I was notified of any charges. They told me to keep a close eye on my accounts and to call as soon as I anything odd so they can correct it and try to find the person who is behind it. They said that phone numbers like this have been calling and then making numerous charges for "fees" on accounts. The longer you wait after one of the "fees" have been removed, they said it is harder to correct.

I got a very similar call on 5/29/2008 at 7:06 PM on my home phone.  I am in Texas so this seems to be all over.

Didn't answer, immediately called back and they didn't answer.

I just got a phone call and no message. I called back when I saw I missed it and all it did was ring and ring. I am in Texas as well with a California area code. Just dont answer. 2:28 pm on June 25, 2008
