I just got my second call. The first time I was at work and didn't answer it. No message left.  Then they call about a half hour ago - said that they were from Publishers Association and I had been registered in a sweepstake by my bank in the area because I am a good customer. They already had my name and address - were going to send me magazines  - I never said anything, just listened.  Then they said that if I won, they wanted to make sure it wouldn't be a financial hardship paying the taxes - I again kept quiet.  She wanted to know my monthly income - wouldn't give it to her.  Then she asked about the weather here. Told me I was going to be sent a diamond necklace.  I told her "unfortunately I don't believe a word you are telling me".  She said "okay - have a blessed day".  And hung up.   I tried calling my police department to report this - but only a certain person takes the information, and he is off till Tuesday.  I will call then.

So yeah...ditto.  After the lovely lady tells me the same thing as everyone else in this thread, I proceeded to ask her how she got my number since I was on the do no call (or at least I thought that is what was supposed to protect me from these jerks).  Her reply was my bank had my information and I asked her if that gave her the right to use it and she quickly hung up on me.

I hate being hung up on.  So I called her back and she answered but guess what...yup.  Hung up and took the phone off the hook.

2 phone calls on my cell -- only one went to voicemail...however, they just stayed on the phone and all i could hear was what sounded like a tv and kids in the background.  

all of my numbers, inlcuding my cell, are on the do not call list...they should not be calling.

these people are calling numbers they're not supposed to be calling....stop them!

just called here.  my daughter answered (she's 5) and i let it go.  apparently they were looking for me, but i told her to tell them i wasn't home.  she then told them she's alone with her brother (he's 2) and he was eating ice chips from a taco bell cup on the floor (which was true, but they're not unsupervised, lol)

woman on the other end of the line asked for HER name and told her that she'd call her back.

Received a call from this number on my caller ID. This is the second telemarketing group calling recently after a long break from it, and I can't think of how or why they could have gotten my number. My home number is private and unlisted, as far as I know.

The caller ID says Ellis Island Funding, so I did some searching for the name and the location (found it to be Lomita, CA). I found the company information below:

I have told this same company not to call me 8 times now and to put me "on their do not call list" and they still keep calling 1 time or 2 times a month. They call themselves publishers headquarters in Lomita, CA. They try to say my bank gave it to them but I work for the bank I use in their collections dept. They are so anal retentive about people's information it's crazy so they lie. So I am going to report them to the FCC. The more people who report them the larger their fine will be. They've called several times, they don't answer when I pick up, and they leave no messages when I don't.  Kind of creeped out/annoyed.

I got a call from this "company" when I answered the phone I wasn't in the mood to hear a telemarketer so I said please take me off your calling list and hung up. About 2 minutes later the jerk called back and said I called you back to hang up on you. And hung up on me. I had a lite stroke a little over a month ago and do not need this from some jerk telemarketer

These people have called me no less than 20 times since november they tried to feed the that free magazines bull crap and I had been entered in a sweepstakes for some amount of money. I want to know how these people REALLY got my number I'm about ready to change my number to get them to stop its annoying they call while I'm in school and it is disruptive to my education. If there is any way to report these people I would LOVE to know if anyone has any way of Doing it because I am tired of it.

ive had my landline for 4 months and it never rings! i got a call from this number and am wondering how they got my number. I dont even know it, we dont use it! Its only for the internet. im a little worried! I called back and it just rings, rings, n rings. Im a lil too poor for identity theft, [***], they can have my credit score with no refunds or exchanges. I just thought id google it n read other responses, got a lil scurred. Should I be?

I got a call from this number while I was at work./ They called my house phone and I do not know if my wife answered it or not, but it says on the caller id Ellis Isl. I didnt know what it was so i researched it on google and found this site. I do not know what they wanted or what lie they told but they will not answer when i call back. I have called them several time in the past several minutes.

I am wondering the same thing now that I got called.

Called me this morning.  She said: "Good news...you have been selected, blah, blah, blah."  Some "publishing" company.  She didn't say which one.  Here's the creepy thing -- she knew my name.  How does this happen?  I'd love to know who is selling my name and phone number.

Received a call this morning.  Same scam as others have reported.  After about 2 minutes, I said the call sounded "scam-y" to me and hung up.
