I just got a call from this number but he said the last 4 digits of my SSN! Creepy!

Just got a call from this number, and they left a different number to call back  Dottie @ 877-704-9457, if you look this number up its a collection agency that buys old junk debts that have already been settled or charged off by the original creditor. Its CRA, or consumer recovery associates.

got a call about 15 mins. ago.

keep getting a call from 310-697-3115 but don't answer it.  Must be on a revolving computer dialup.
How do you get your number removed from these jerks?

Wow!  So I get this call from 310-697-3115.  They are very tricky with their wording, although they claim not to be.  They say they are calling about unclaimed income to the IRS, making it sound as if they are calling about your taxes.  They then end up being a collection agency called CRA (consumer recovery associates.)  Then I inform him that this is rediculous to call me on something that occured over 10 years ago.  He proceeds to tell me that this bill is considered unearned income.  I told him all these fees that he wants to include are not income! He says they are.  When I try to talk he keeps interupting me and I say "Excuse me, you called me, may I speak?"  Then he says, "Ma'am, now that you have become aggressive and raised your voice to me, I have no further choice but to take different action."  I have simply spoke in a stern voice since nothing else would make him shut up!  Wow! What a jerk!

I am sure this is the same company that called my house two weeks ago and when I refused to give them my social security number until they told me what is was about, the lady got huffy and hung up on me...she had made it sound like I had won something when she first called. She was just as pushy and rude.

Whatever ignorant hicks are calling from that number which goes to a CRA should be reported to any agency that handles harrassing calls.  Some stupid woman called asking for a Nicole Martinez and refused to accept that she had the wrong number and persisted in carrying on a conversation like she was on crack.  When the number was called back a man by the name of Mr. Gow answered and did not resolve the issue of having ignorant people making harrassing calls to the wrong number.  So, the number was called again and another crazy man said to "hush." What kind of dweebs are these?  They must be stopped!  Either way, I cannot imagine that they will recover any money owed by anybody, so that may be fair enough.

If this number, or any other number belonging to CRA, calls your mobile number, try this:  add the number(s) to your contact list under SCUM, LIARS, BEGGARS, whatever floats your boat, and if possible, select 'send directly to voicemail'.  Most likely they are used to this tactic, so just keep adding every new number from anywhere near the 310 area code (though I have been harassed by 2 other area codes from these mouthbreathers) and simply force them to sniff another set of pants.

Someone called from this number asking for someone I don't know.  I told the person I had no idea who the person was and they said "can you give them a message?"  I repeated that they had the wrong number and then hung up.  I have gotten calls from this agency in the past and have told them the same thing.  I wish I could get off their list because they are calling my CELL phone and I don't want to waste my minutes on them.  I did put their number in my contacts so that I will know that it is them when they call.  Pain in the b**t!

received a call from these same folks about a year ago.  - regarding an old debt - past 13 years old. This debt has always been in dispute as someone took out a CC in my name.  needless to say teh fees etc are outrageous and I won't pay.  They also acted as if it was "unreported income" and threatend to file a 1099 w/ the IRS unless I gave them 2500.00 over the phone right then.  I asked taht she send me something in writting - absolutly NOT.  They have been more then patient (sending letters 2 x a year to fradulent address provided by theif) - I need to give her a check over the phone or something or she had no choice but to send the over night fed ex pack to IRS.  

Scam.  total Scam. They buy out these uncollectable debts and hope they run across someone who is that scared and will send what every funds they can w/ out question.

not me, I need some documentation of who i am paying.  they could have overnighted the documents to me, allowed me to reveiw for validity then called back for check by phone.

They keep calling me. Is there a way to block these calls or to get them to stop? And what about these people claiming to sue debt collectors?
