    recieved 2 voicemails from this number, both saying that it was Richard Wright calling and needed called back by myself or my lawyer immediately for a time sensitive offer. He did not announce himself as a debt collector, and that any information collected would be used to collect a debt, which set off red flags. After researching further, I found that there is an ongoing internet payday loan scam, and that this seems to be a new number used by the company.
    https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-661-458-3594

    shows identical phone calls, where the individual has a heavy accent, and the exact phrasing. I never actually talked to the individual, but it says if conversation is started, that they will say they are law inforcement attempting to collect on a debt from x number of years ago, and try bullying into payment.

    I got a call from them telling me to call a lawyer at 310-742-4798.  I asked what did this have to do with me and he said I was being sued.  I asked for what, they just insisted that I call the number.

    Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

    This caller id'd himself as Frank Murphy and has left 3 voicemails twice the caller id read 6075952318 but this time it was the 310 number. He is threatening legal action against me and my social security number. Everything that I've read it's a payday loan scam, when I've never taken a payday loan out I had only inquired about them so I know they have no ground and this is fake. They never reveal company name, I called the 310 number back and informed them I've reported this to the authorities and they need to stop calling my number and they will not get any personal info from me. I think the person hung up on me.

    I just recieved a phone call from this number telling me that it was urgent I was being sued for illeagal phone activity.  After verifing the last four of my social security number the gentleman (if you can call him that) proceed to tell ,me that I have committed payday loan fraud that I got a payday loan and refused to pay it back and demanded I pay him $212 now or the local police will come to take me on a warrant and at that time I will lose everything and my accounts frozen.  This is very scary and I never got a  payday loan but the guy insisted he had all the documents the court would need to convict me and he used the term blackballed from future employment that it would show up on my credit report that I am dishonest and try to take credit with no intention of paying it back.  DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFORMATION.  And most important close your account right away he was able to give me the last four digits of my checking account number.

    This is about the 4th one that I have received. I told him that I was scammed once and Then he saId that he was from the Department of Justice for the State of California and said that they wanted $210 from me right now for an unpaid payday loan. I informed him that I had no outstanding payday loans then he said that it might be from a medically bill and for me to check my credit report. That's when I got him. I told him that I did not give any authorization for him to pull my credit report. I also informed him that in the United States a creditor has to give you written proof of the debt and the Department of Justice just doesn't call you out of the blue saying that you are going to be arrested. I asked for his address which he gave as 1457 Avenue, Los Angeles, Ca. He did say his name was Xavier Marshelle. I also told him that he wasn't getting any information from me but my attorney and the FBI are very interested in him. I have been through hell putting Fraud alerts on my credit report, social Security and changing my bank account number.fool me once same on me, try to do me twice oh hell NO.  Just wish there was a way the FBI and the FTC can track these a**holes down and hang them by their you  know what. Oh yeah I told him that I pull my credit report once a week and everything is in perfect order along with FRAUD Alerts for an attempted identy theft. I also put a Fraud Alert on my drivers license. He hung up. Think it's time to change my cell phone number. Also if they are calling your cell phone there is an app for iPhone and Android called Black list, that will block them from calling your cell phone and block messages as well.

    I have had a man by the name of Shaun Michaels call me 6 times in the last two days stating that he was with the restitution department at this phone number and that I will be sued and have to go to jail in California. I do not live in California. After I spoke to him, I received another phone call from another Shaun Michaels at the same number stating that he was calling regarding the same thing but was a paralegal. They are saying that I took this payday loan out with an unknown company years ago, but I have no recollection of doing so. I did inquire about them years ago but never proceeded. Every time I ask him what the company name is or what payday loan company it was he starts screaming at me telling me that I am just trying to get out of it. He has also hung up on me twice and then just calls back. I told him he absolutely could not be calling my work. But he continued to. He then proceeded to tell me I was going to end up owing them 3000.00 and my social security number would be black listed. Again, he will not give me ANY information at all. He has left messages for me this morning also and I just don't know if I should ignore it or call him back and tell him what it says on the FTC page. It's so frustrating!

    I have the message transcribed via Vonage and I also listened to it. Either way I can't understand it.  The guy must be from the Nigeria or something.  His name was Sean Michael (right...).  I recently applied for a payday loan but was not approved and ever since then I've been getting these calls and spam email.  He said on the message that if I don't contact him, my social security number will be blacklisted (no such thing) and I would not receive any future benefits.  He also said my employer would be contacted and I would no longer be able to keep my job.  Lesson learned - PAYDAY LOAN IS NOT WORTH IT!

    Just got a call on my cell and at work, I hung up on the person.  He said he has a warrant for my arrest if I didn't pay monies that I owed.  At work, I hung up on him and he called back because he wanted to
    speak with the manager.  I told him that there was no one available.  He asked me to take his number down and I just hung up on him again.  This is not the first time I receive this type of call.  The first time I was scared to death but now I know it is a scam.
