- eLSid14 Oct 2008Call came in at 8:15 AM to VM; Redialed the caller ID number and answers to Protocol Recovery.... Spoofed Caller ID is common for Protocol Recovery where it simply claims the town and state; and fools you into answering. The algorithm can detect a human vs an answering machine when they call you, but sometimes they are just trying to log an attempt to contact, until they figure they have a live phone to their "mark".
The VM was a standard message to call back 1-877-678-0567... Strangely, the message did not say who they were attempting to contact, though it it says that if you are not the party that the message is for, you should hang up ;)
Good luck out there!- I received a call from them yesterday with no message. They called today but the number was listed as unknown. They left a message this time and that they were trying to get a message to either my son or my ex (they have the same name). I assume it's my ex since I have received collections calls on him for years. The guy left his name and number for a call back. Ya, they'll get money after I get my $25K out of the bastard.
