ripoff scammer

Received a recording from this number today saying that I'm under federal investigation.  I called the number back and got an indian guy saying that he was the us treasury department in compton. SCAM!!!

Scary scam call.  A "Steve Maulkin" (British accent) claims you have been charged with a felony and if you don't respond to this call you're in danger of avoiding participation and risk a grand jury appearance.  Bogus but message is very authoritative and give me quite a jolt.

Got a similar call - twice (same day).  I thought the name was Steve Martin.  One call back was to this number (Compton); the other to a phone number in Vista (San Diego County).  As I myself am a former IRS employee and currently an Enrolled Agent (a federally licensed tax representative), I know that the Treasury Dept. doesn't have offices in either location.  I refused to take the call, but he dared to leave voice mail.  I have reported this to TIGTA as it is one of the know scams they are investigating.

This caller is committing a felony by impersonating a federal agent.

I've gotten this same call, twice.

It WOULD be frightening to someone who doesn't know that it's a scam.  I do hope that this stops... or that they are stopped.  This is horrendously unfair to a neophyte.
