This # is from CDW.  www.cdw.com.  It's the generic phone number that comes from when an account manager tries to reach you.  answer next time and say you are intersted in 100 servers.  play with them!!!

I work for CDW and when we call businesses we each have our own direct line that shows up on the caller ID from the area code we are calling from.    This is our job; it's how we feed our families.  Wasting our time with false order requests is a pretty nasty thing to do.  We are all struggling in this tough economy together.  Obviously you have never been in sales.

We all understand it is how you do your job, but I'll be honest.  The CDW rep calls me every day several times even when told that we will contact him when we need something.  This makes me not want to buy a thing from him.  Since that didnt work I tried something different.  i started ordering a few things online through our account and when he called I said the easiiest thing for me to do is order online when I need somethng...no need to call.  that didn't work either.  So my next step is to ask the manager's name and tell him that I will refuse to buy anything from CDW if he continues to call me every day.  It may be your job, but IT directors are extremely busy and I dont have time to talk to a rep every day.

To temper the above comments, I am also (quite busy as) a CIO and got a call from a different number--also within CDW--but the representative was understanding and hasn't called me incessantly. In fact, he (Eric) left me alone as long as I needed. This is what a reputable company should do and--with a company that READILY identifies itself to you--it's cruel to lead sales people with a ridiculously inflated carrot. While the author certainly wouldn't have meant to say this--it reminds me of people who do unfortunate things to animals.

Folks, please remember that nobody's psychic when it comes to YOUR world. If you're not interested, EXPRESS THIS to the innocent people on the other side and be clear (NOT rude) about it. If you express interest and you have no intention of following through, the problem then becomes one of "well...they might be interested, so maybe I can try again..." or adding you to a list, at which point you've cut off your OWN feet.

In contrast, if it's a company that won't identify themselves (especially if clearly a scammer) then sure, mess with their heads. But if it's anyone else, put yourself in their shoes--struggling to get through college, going crazy working at a fast food joint, working two jobs + school + kids, mowing lawns, delivering papers--taking ANY job SOMEONE will give them--seriously...sure, you were placed on a list they were told to call, but that doesn't mean it has to be ALL about you.

Disclaimer: I'm not a telemarketer...but I've had friends who've told me how hard it is; so I don't count myself amongst the "incensed-why-do-you-keep-calling-masses" any more...I just deal with it...and what do you know: I have rock-solid, trustworthy corporate representatives for the things I do buy, and the rest is manageable. C'est la vie.

They CDW has started calling my home phone.  I have never done business with the organization and plan not too, since I have no use for computer equipment.  Computers are the bane of today's society and should be banned from existence.  LOL (opps, guess I'm more connected to the lingo than I thought.)

No message left.  I don't care if you are above-the-board sales for a reputable company or not, if you are too dim to check the time zone of the destination area code before you dial, you're not getting any of my business anyway.  Hitting my cell at 0545 with a stupid "Hey, how ya doin, wanna buy some servers?" wake-up call is asking for blacklisting.  Newegg beats your prices without my having to play games with a sales rep, anyway.

ooooo called you twice......WOW.....how about politicians calling repeatedly....go take your message to them. You are probably in thier system because you bought something and didnt identify yourself as a lowly home user who shops for equipment at walmart and ebay :)

Obvisouly you work for a small firm as companies like CDW, Insight, and PCConnection actually try to partner with the IT staffs of firms to make thier jobs easier in terms of solutions and projects. If you let them know that you are the IT director and dont want to talk everyday....they wont call....but they probably would like to know some details of your firm in case a problem arises and nagate the need to profile your network at that time to provide a solution that works.

They called today and I told them that I do not want to be contacted, and that I am on the do not call list and have asked repeatedly to not be contacted. The person said they are from CDW, and not a telemarketer. Well guess what, you are breaking the law and I filled a complaint via the national do not call registry: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx

I asked to talk with a supervisor and was told that one was not available. Call me again and you will hear from my lawyer. It is illegal to call someone that has asked to be removed from your phone list. I hate you CDW, your tactics are shameful, and you really need to find a new line of work!

When I asked to be removed, don't give me excuses or try to talk me out of it, JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile, I've never bought anything from CDW, and thanks to the harassment, I certainly won't ever!

That's great but we're all in the situation. CDW relentlessly calling my small business means that I'm wasting my time dealing with CDW instead of working to feed my family in this tough economy.

I've been in corporate call center IT sales and in fact managed a team of 15 sales reps in a IT sales call center. I'm quite sympathetic with phone sales people and I'm always polite when they call.

However, when my number is on a do not call list and CDW is calling me every week I lose my respect.

I will now make it a point to never buy from CDW.

You may want to suggest to your executives that they reconsider their overly aggressive sales tactics.

I run a small web software business. A CDW rep posted a tech support request to our site marked URGENT, with this message: "Please contact me asap 312-705-5632"

Of course, I thought this was a prospective customer, trying out our software. We played phone tag a while, at significant inconvenience and use of my time. Then it turned out to be nothing but CDW cold-calling me.

CDW is absolutely the last place on earth I will buy anything. They are dishonest.

yeahhhh just got a call from them. they didnt respond and as I thought it was one of our customers, I took down the caller ID and wasted some time trying to addresss this before I found this site. I suspect I just went on a low level list just of people that actually pick up their phone.
I dont have a problem with telemarketers -I get that they just need work and probably dont like it anyways, but it is a waste of time that could be avoided if their crappy company didnt intentionally be elusive about who they are ("not a telemarketer") or vaguely provide contact info to make you think they are your customer. Its not a coincidence, and its probably illegal.   yes poor telemarketers, but it is the CDW that is victimizing their own staff, and you can gaurantee that they understand people hate this. If you work for them I'm sorry, but either report so much dissatisfaction with potential customers that they change their policy, or realize that getting yelled out for legitimate reasons is part of your job if you work for that company. I need to make money too and you are taking it out of my pocket when you make me pay attention to you because you make it too hard to realize you are just like every other telemarketer -you dont deserve anymore of my time then them

You guys have it all wrong. There is no call list. These are employees prospecting and coming across your numbers through various methods. They aren't stupid employees who run through a list. Cdw is a reputable company who deal with pretty much every big organization out there. You should be lucky to have a chance to deal with them as they only target certain types of clients. Sure if you don't want what they offer just be nice, they're trying to make a living to. Maybe hear them out though next time and remember it's possible to get more than one call from them as they could be different employees finding your contact info different ways. They aren't told to contact you specifically. If you're gonna be rude just remember one day your kids and family will need jobs and maybe they'll have to cold call. How would you feel if someone treated them badly? Hopefully you won't be a d!ck because Karmas a [***] and anything you do negatively just reflects badly on you and your organization.

The Sales person asked to speak to our controller. When I asked if she was calling about accounting. She said yes. Then I said accounts payable or receivable, she said payable. We have never done Business with CDW and I knew she was not telling me the truth. This deceptive and unethical business practice.

A representative from CDW called me. I told him I use a local company and no thank you. He kept talking after my no thank you. I decided the only way to end the call was to gently hang up. So I did. Then he called back and would not take the no thank you from my co worker. We were very polite to him. We just were not interested. Then he called back 3 more times but did not speak. I hope he just moves on. We are busy doing our jobs to feed our families too.

I don't know if it was this particular number or not, but a sales rep from CDW has been calling the business I work for every week.  I answer the phones (among many other responsibilities) and my boss does NOT want to be bothered with this - I asked him.  I have been fairly polite with this sales person because he comes across as a reasonable person at first.  However, this relentless calling every week and inability to take no for an answer is bordering on harassment.  I see that a lot of telemarketer apologists have posted here, but please understand how many unsolicited sales calls I get every day.  It is absolutely horrible these days; half the calls are robo-calls,  others are obvious telemarketing farms trying to sell magazine subscriptions who keep calling back no matter what I tell them.  Many of them lie to me, threaten me, etc.  I've been sworn at in Hindi.  Please look at it from my point of view.  My job is screening calls so that my boss isn't bothered.  I'm trying to put food on the table, too, and calling me after I've told you not to several times is only making it less likely that I will EVER let a call from you get through.
