called back and it rang many times then the IVR stated it was Time Warner Cable.  Assuming this is the business office trying to collect. However I am not the customer so they are not looking at the contract and calling the customer of record.

I keep getting messages from this number, directed to someone who is not me (although my voicemail message clearly states my name), saying I am delinquent in my account with Time Warner Business.  Again, I am not this person and I am not a Time Warner customer (I switched to another provider years ago).  Return calls and messages to this number to explain the problem are being ignored.  If there were a nuclear holocaust and Time Warner were the only company left in operation, I would rather count my falling teeth and braid my falling hair than do business with them.

Larry Lipman strikes again! or someone claiming to be larry called, and he told me I owed money to twc-b, well I did but! Larry didn't know my mailing address and then he offered to email me my bill, which raised a red flag as  I asked the TWC agent if they could do the same 2 weeks before and they said it was against corporate policy, I work I.T. so I told him ok email it to me, he then asked for my email, which was on the account. At this point I balked and told him send me a hard copy bill to my mailing address on the account and I'll send the money. Bottom line the guys a fraud, I made a call to TWC and they confirmed they had my email and mailing address on the account. This looks like Larry is using company information about closed accounts to try to shake down people for $$. The next question is, who at time warner cable sold him the information or alternatively who hacked the same info and sold it to him?

Larry called from "Time Warner Cable" and asked for me by my maiden name which i havent had for 7 years. He said i had an outstanding balance from my TWB account. I cancelled that account directly with the 800 number with TW and was told to ignore the next bill because it wouldnt be valid. I told this to Larry and said he would notate my account. It sounded like i called Larry on his personal cell phone. Not to be trusted and definately not working for Time Warner.

Very Interesting...Got a call from the infamous Larry this morning- took a message- and got info from him- "seems" legit- but after reading this info we will be calling Spectrum (formerly TW) back directly- Larry gave me some "referral number" while on the phone as well...
Anyone else think he sounded like the Sloths from Zootopia?? (the DMV scene??) anyway- thats all i could picture in my head with how slowly he spoke..

Just received a call from a lady named Shirley (312) 288-2586. She asked for the Accounting Dept. I asked what company was she calling from, then she said from Spectrum. I told her someone had already called from Spectrum yesterday and that they had noted on their system to call tomorrow at a certain time to speak to the owner and that they couldn't leave a message with me because I wasn't an authorized user. So then she said she could leave a message with me and provided me with a reference # 30514962 .... then she inquired about the owners name, that's when it dawned on me that this call was a fraud, especially after providing me with a reference #. And why if she was calling from Spectrum wouldn't she know the name of the person she is trying to attempt to collect a debt. So I hung up on her and she didn't call back.

Ignored the call, but they left a voicemail. Some lady (didn't leave her name) said they were calling "for the person at this number" (obviously a scam since they didn't even know what name to use) and said they were from the Accounting office and calling on behalf of spectrum and I needed to call them back and they gave me a reference number.

First- it started of scam like from the start with no name of the person or mine
Second - while I do have spectrum, my bill is completely up to date, so I know its a scam.

Hit -0- a couple of times, was transferred over to McCarthy Burgess & Wolff (MB&W) a collection group in Cleveland, OH, that handles HUNDREDS of collections.
Funny thing, they dialed a technical support line for my company, that 1) isn't on any contract or billing and 2) we don't have ANY accounts with Spectrum... receptionist at the end of the line couldn't tell me why they were calling. I surmise someone gave a fake number to open an account that just happened to be our tech support line.

Pita left a message on my direct company line stating that one of our offices had a past due account.  I'm well aware of how Time Warner/Spectrum works and leaving messages regarding past due invoices is not it.  They would be more likely to shut down service before contacting anyone.  He left a reference number as well but this was definitely a scam for money.

Got a call from Pete. Said we were behind on our Spectrum Business bill ( we are not behind). He wanted to know when and how the past due amount was paid. I told him I had to call him back because I didn't have the paperwork in front of me. Pete gave me a reference# to give him when I called back. The phone rings a number of times then finally a recording comes on and says Spectrum and that all the agents are busy. Leave your name, phone# etc. and someone will call back or dial an extension #. No one called back.

I called again. Same continuous ring. I decided to push 1234 as an "extension" #. "Janet" answered. I ask her if this was Spectrum, she said " No Ma'am this is a collection agency" I told her why I was calling and she sent back to the same recording (Spectrum).
Called the "Real" Spectrum phone#. Told them what was going on regarding the "Pete & Janet" fiasco. They have "NO" affiliation or knowledge of this.

Called the 312-288-2586 number again and the person answered this is Pete. No mention of either Spectrum or a collection agency. I told him to " google" his number in on the internet and look at the other people who had similar calls regarding "past due" bills. I ask him if he was in Chicago (312 area code) he said no Ohio. I then preceded to ask why he was calling from a Chicago # . Pete said he was given that number to call people and that HE DIDN'T KNOW HOW THE PHONE SYSTEM WORKED".
What and you work for Spectrum?? Sure you do....Not!

Update: on the phone again with Spectrum this morning since Peter emailed me a copy of my actual bill. They are now telling me that he does work for Spectrum but maybe he is doing things he shouldnt be doing since it is against company policy to email invoices. I am currently on-hold with Spectrum to find out if my account is secure and why this gentleman has access to my invoices in the first place and why is he asking me to pay a different amount than what they show I currently owe. I am currently a customer of theirs so no reason why they wouldn't just mail the invoice to me.

I received a voice mail from Peter saying this is for AP leaving this number and a reference number. Interestingly enough...my company has never done business with Spectrum at all.

Seems they are at it again. We received a call from this number yesterday, said their name was Sybil Spratt, said they were trying to reach a business by the name of (our business). Some of the message is transcribed below. Our business doesn't even work with spectrum.....

Hello, my name is Sybil Spratt. I'm calling from spectrum. I'm trying to reach a business by the name of ********. Your business does business with our company, spectrum. An issue has come up that needs the attention of the accounts payable department or whoever handles the finances for this business. We would like to get this resolved in a timely fashion.

I received two calls from SYBIL, and her tone was quite impolite. She left multiple messages for me. Upon returning the call, even their voicemail sounded unprofessional due to stutters and a poorly recorded message. This seems like a scam, and I'm keen on reporting it to the authorities. Taking advantage of people's hard-earned money through deception is wrong, and such individuals should face legal consequences.
