Well, looks like a new scam artist is moving in. Just got a call from this number that I ignored and let go to the answering machine. They (whomever they are) just hung up and didn't even let the message finish playing. The ID said "Rebate Center." Seriously? Who the hell is this? "Direct Assist" and "Member Services" wasn't enough? Now they have to try with "Rebate Center?"

Spam call claiming to offer lower electric utility rate.  Name of company is never mentioned.  This is a SCAM.

called claiming to give me a GOVERMNENT energy credit.

I avoid answering calls from random/unknown numbers. Two calls a minute ago, no message. This affirms the "do not answer" program.

They call from various #'s and CID's in this exchange:

Too bad the Govt does not enforce do not call list with real teeth.

Called several times and did not leave a message.

I'm detecting a pattern here!  Why, oh why, is the govt not all over this?

When I pressed 0 to speak to someone, I told her I wanted to be removed from the calling list.  She said "right" and hung up on me!

Got a call about five minutes ago from this phone number. Picked it up but I didn't say one word and the other end didn't say anything either before they eventually hung up.

Add 312-340-5544    Discount Center to the list using 312-340.

Good news! I'm eligible for government assistance. I get free electricity!!! Just press ZERO to qualify. Press TWO to waive eligibliteeeee,...press ZERO (huh? again?) to speak to a project REPist. I just love it when strangers call. Reminds me of a shower scene.
Anywho. You can THANK A POLITICIAN for this. (AND his/her deep pocket friends.)

I work from my home. So sick of these calls. (One of many) 312-340-5557. I am on the do not call list .....like that works anymore......
My best advice depending on my mood is to not pick up (any unknow number) or pick up and wait (silently) until you get the fast busy signal ( which means they dumped the call) .....at least that ties up THEIR line for a couple minutes :)

This  is a call from some low life scammer / crook trying to CON people by pretending to be some legit
entity .

it has nothing to do with the Goverment , Politicans or His or her deep pocket friends.

How can we stop this caller!!!! My CID is full every day and they are driving me CRAZY!!!!

Same as above-on DNC list, no matter, block them as long as my phone will take more nunbers

Got a call myself from "Rebate Center" (312-340-5557) abouit seven minutes ago. Didn't bother to answer it. No message left. Typical.

Informed the person on the other side of the phone, that this was the 2nd time today that I received a call from them. That I am on the Federal DNC list, and if I get another call from them, I will contact the district attorney here in Illinois.... They hung up on me afterwards.

Someone, somewhere is not doing there job.

Yup, I get the same numbers (312-340-55**) calling me everyday.  Also been getting various electricity supplier sales rep. knocking on doors in my area asking people to show them their electric bills.  They're probably trying to get your account number so they can switch you.
