Must be a telemarketer because I got a call and I live in Tennessee

Got the first call today just before noon. First time from this group of Idiots. Gonna set my iphone to the BOING ring tone and name to CRAP so I can ignore this like so many other spam callers

Just got a call from this number too. Didn't answer the call since I didn't recognize the number. I also live in Tennessee. Tried to call the number back from another phone and couldn't get it to ring.

Just got a call from this number. Didn't pick up. Seemed bogus.

Called today, hit my DND button to send them directly to voicemail and no message left...must not have been important.

Got a call from this number , I didn't recognize the number , plus it's a out of state number, let the answering machine pick up, no answer. Must to no have been that important!!!

Call rec'd from this number on 3/22/2013 ... caller ID only said "S Engine"
Figured it was bogus, but answered to try to get details:  Recorded message said it was "Google .... to update your map and contact info ... press 1 to connect / 2 to be placed on their dnc list "  Pressed 1 and actual person connected.  I said 'this is a residential #' ... she said 'this call is supposed to be for businesses' ... as soon as I asked why they were called a residential #, she hung up.

I recently made an edit to our Google Places listing. This person was supposedly calling to verify that I am assuming since they didn't really identify themselves. Once I mentioned that I was not the business owner but my father was they promptly hung up on me. So incredibly rude and disappointing! GOOGLE, if this person does work for you they should be fired immediately due to rudeness and lack or professionalism.

This is solicitation from Google and Google Maps. They are calling cell phones. I have gotten a dozen or more in two days. How inappropriate is that? I get hundreds of Google calls on my land line. Google must be getting REALLY Desperate, is Bing hurting them so badly that they have to resort to cold call begging?

I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.

This number called with caller i.d. of "S Engine".  NO ONE ON THE OTHER END.  They have called my business numerous times.  I don't have time for this!

As usual, this was an autodialer and hung up on me. For the commenters on here who think this is Google: these people are telescammers who will tell you they are Google or some other company depending on what kind of scam they are running. They are not affiliated with any of the companies they are purporting to be. Most likely the number they are using is spoofed, and if it is a real number, calling the actual owner of the number will not connect you with the telescammers. They will do this from this number for a week or two, then change it by a few digits and start over again.

03/22/2013 312-683-9576 "Chicago IL" called and left no msg. I called and thy hung up on me 3x in a row. I texted asking who they were and why they were hanging up on me. No reply.

just got a call... didnt pick up because I do not live in illinois nor do I know anyone from there.

yeah i get these calls..and i'm thinking may very well be GOOGLE..it is my residential AND business number..since i have my bizz listed with GOOGLE+/Places i'm suspecting that Is why i'm getting calls..pain in the ass! if they are wanting to verify/update my bizz info they should email me and not ring my fone off the damn wall!!

Said something about Google Maps. Press 1 to speak to a live agent, press 2 to be removed. I pressed 2. If they call again (these types usually do), I'm going to press 1 and give them what for.

I actually talked to them. They are NOT GOOGLE. It's very miss leading. They are a SEO company that specializes in google maps rankings. It's just more telemarketing crap.
