I received calls from this number three times today. The first time claiming to be Mark from "technical service", and asking how I was today, I said "fine", and he replied, "you sound so sexy" whereupon I hung up. An hour later he called again and claimed to be from the IRS, and if I did not respond in seconds of receiving his message something would happen; again I hung up. He called again an hour later but I did not answer.

Friend of mine is receiving fake IRS scam calls from this number. Add it to the list. Do not give them any money or info.

I have got 3 calls from this number today. The guy identifies himself a Lt. Shawn, and said he was an investigator with the IRS. That he needed to hear from me or my lawyer asap. That if I or my lawyer did not contact him back. The leagel problem would fall on me

Same deal called and left a message saying do not disregard and that I or my lawyer needed to contact sherrif Sean White about a legal matter!! WOW.....

Same here. Lt. Shaun White wants my lawyer or I to call him immediately or something bad would happen to me. Ha, like the IRS handles matters like this.  From Chicago, figures

I called them back for 8 hrs straight and will continue for the weekend

Hilarious, got the same calls and now I have 20 plus people constantly calling back.

SCAM ALERT left msg on elderly family member voice mail.never mentions WHO they are calling. Thick accent sounds foreign. IRS always sends official mail, never calls.

I wrote word for word what they say:

"this message is from tax fraud investigation dept. Internal revenue service. The issue at hand is very time sensitive. The very second you receive this msg. Either you or your attorney should give us a call. This is officer shawn white at: (repeats the 312 twice) now don't disregard this msg and return the call.  If I don't hear from u or ur Atty either than the legal situation unfolds on you. Have a nice day goodbye.

I got a call today from officer Shawn White regarding an "unspecified legal matter" from the same number. He also gave a direct line (312) 966-3494

Me too. He called me today and want me or my attorney to call him back ASAP or legal action will be take against me. I really think is fraud.

I got the same message and called back. The name changed from Officer White to another officer. When I asked if they had the correct person, they said they were sending officers to arrest me after paperwork was presented. They hung up on me after that. Strange.

I've got a call from this number yesterday and honestly it has me really scared is there anyone to contact about this situation or to find out if it's a scam?

Old scam.  Been around awhile.  Indian accent should be a dead giveaway.  IRS never initiates contact by phone.

Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

This caller, named Sean White, has called me several times today (11/16/2015). Has left voice messages telling me to call back to a Chicago number 312-966-3494. My phone showed that the call originated from Milwaukee (414 999 6512). I'm told something about the IRS and I or my attorney should return the call. Excuse I don't owe the IRS back taxes from last year or whatever. How annoying!!!
