- gauMy caller ID indicated "Michigan" as the owner. The number is assigned to the Detroit area. When I called back, I got a message that it was an unassigned cell phone number.
- hcccalled, no voice on msg, just silence
- skeetcalled me 3 days in row. no one there but just static on line. would like to get my hands on this idiot
- Bob| 1 replyI just got a call from this number. The caller claimed to be a volunteer for the Cancer Fund of America, and claimed that 100% of contributions go to cancer patients. As soon as I said, "Please don't call again," she hung up.
- scamhaterReceived call from this number. Caller ID said "Michigan". Nobody on the other end. Go away or go to hell. Your choice.
- Joyce C. LeeI received a call saying the caller was from the American Red Cross or the Amreican Heart association. My caller Id said this was a Michigan number. (I live in Virginia) I have a friend in Michigan but her area code is 248. I had already given a yearly donation to the Heart association in March so I was suspicious.
- MegaIdiots calling and hanging up. Caller ID just says UNKNOWN NAME
- Caller: 313-203-8197

- RickReceived a call from 313-203-8197. Women said that it was a blessing to have reached me this evening and that she thanked me for my donation to cancer research last year. I told her that I did not donate last year and she hung up. Called the number back and received message that the number was unassigned.
- MelodieThis is the 3rd day in row I have gotten a call from this number. Each time they listen and hang up. Today 6/19/09 they called 3 times.
- Lew W replies to BobI received a call from this number too. Asked for donation to this cancer fund, I replied, "sorry, no I cannot help." The lady was persistent in asking for a committment later and again I replied, "sorry, I'm 61 years old, unemployed after over 19 years with a Dodge Dealer whose franchise was pulled, Hope & Change," at which time she hung up on me.
In the future I think I will tell them must contact my funds group who will be more than happy to make a donation, and give them the number of the White House. - ProfCalled 6PM-8:30PM every other day for a week. I do not pick up. They do not leave message on answering machine.
- MArtianI have been getting and ignoring Cancer Society money calls for a couple of days. Some are from their 888 number (276-2971), which is easy to ignore. But I called back to 313-203-8197 and the recording says it is a cellular number which is "unassigned" - no further information. 313 is Detroit. My guess is they are outsourcing funding calls to unemployed people as piecework where they get paid by the number of donations they can solicit or something like that.
- Caller: Cancer Society
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- StephanieSame deal. Answered call and heard talking in the background. Kept saying hello and then they hung up on me.

- IreneCalled 8:45 pm I did not pick up; they left no message. Since I dont know anyone in Michigan, assumed it was marketing. Now it sounds as though it is scam artist.
- LuLuVery annoying - some people need to get a real life

- Caller: michigan
- CHRISNEVER donate over the phone to ANYONE! only mail in your contributions OR go online to THAT charities website. EVEN if this call would be legit, they get to keep MOST of the money, most of these type of companies keep up to 90% of collected funds and they are SUPPOSED to tell you that you may send in your donation via check directly TO the charity, but than, why would they do that: they wont get a piece of it.
- Caller: /?
- CHRISDIRECT FROM 800 NOTES own articles regarding phone scams:
Bogus Fund-Raising Operations: 800Notes.com users report getting calls from scam artists posing as a charity and asking for donations. However, the charity is either non-existent or unaware of the solicitation.
When it comes to donations, it’s best to never make donations over the phone and donate directly to the beneficiary not the solicitor. This way 100% of your money will go to the charity not 10-15% as it often happens when donations are made through a telemarketer or even 0% if the money goes to a bogus charity.- Caller: ?
